Re: Most Important Announcement....
I will never ever purchase a new chess program consisting just of an engine to be harnessed to a pre existent gui. That-s final, no matter how much amity I feel for Don and Larry It is even amazing to me to see people expending bucks =not many, truth= just to get presumably 20=30 more Elo points fo...

Re: Chess Database with Age-Information?
Jose ( http://jose-chess.sourceforge.net/ ) can read pgn and produces a mysql database. The fide player list contains name and year of birth in a tab-separated list and should be possible to import. Eventually build a sql query somewhat like: SELECT player.playername, game.gameresult, [game]![gamey...

Chess Database with Age-Information?
Hi all, I have a database problem and hope somebody may be able to help out... Is there a chess game database available where it is possible to display the age of the players? In particular, I have the following problem. I want to calculate the win/loss/draw percentage of chess players with increasi...

Re: Moron 3.0
This is a real breakthrough. You will not receive even a mail saying "hi". You will not receive nothing. It is pure and simple, a masterwork of clarity and economy of means. You just send me the money -$39 bucks- and you can at once stay calm because nothing will arrive at your mail. I thanks the m...

Re: Some suggestions
YAWN²  I guess this was the most boring WCh ever. Let's forget it fast... Exactly. My suggestion to FIDE is to increase the stakes for the players to give more incentives to produce entertaining chess. 1. More games. The winner should win at least 6 games. 2. The winner gets a Bobby Fische...

Re: Some suggestions
Was it really "boring" or has chess evolved to the point where winning in match play, at the top level, has become more difficult? We should not confuse match play with round-robin tournaments where winning and therefore taking risks, is essential to finishing in the money. Match play is such that ...

Fidelity Elite A/S Display
Hi all (Steve ;-), I once had a Fidelity Elite A/S before I got married (sigh), but I do remember that the display looked different: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Schachcomputer-Fidelity-Elite-A-S-Challenger-Sprachausgabe-Schaltplane-usw-/220980890199?pt=DE_Allesf%C3%BCrsKind_Spielzeug_Gesellschaftsspiele&...

Re: Levy's interview on Chessbase about ICGA/rybka
... (1) First of all their mathematical foolishness. If you have 300 programmers (amateurs and pros) and gather 34 in a special ICGA panel and then only 16 voted, then even the result of 16-0 isnt a clear result at all. Levy says if it had been 9-7 then the staff should have taken some serious cons...
