Re: The next revolution in computer chess?

Here, we should give Jonathan Rosenthal some credit: he implemented a NN in an AB engine a year ago, before all this NNUE buzz. I think he is still one step ahead, combining different nets for particular parts of the evaluation. Jonathan can probably explain it better than I can, but I think he comb...

Re: Stockfish 210720 with NNUE

Hi all- I got a nice speed increase (~8-10%) for these aio (all-in-one) builds: https://github.com/FireFather/sf-nnue/releases/tag/07-23-2020 Norm, a lot of us, less computer/programming savvy, owe you a big thanks for all the work you did over the years: for Robbo, Fire, and now the SF NN. I regre...

Re: LizardFish 0.1 NNUE now available

After the big snafu from earlier, here LizardFish 0.1, trained on only 6 million games. Somewhere between the last Texel and Komodo 13 in strength. https://www.patreon.com/posts/39496596 So far, although far from conclusive, it seems closer to the upper limit. It was better than RubiChess 1.7.3 and...

Re: LizardFish 0.1 NNUE now available

Thanks, Dietrich. I hope this time it will be OK. Meanwhile, to answer a question you asked on Discord, a lot of engines are stronger than Komodo (and SF) at depth 8: probably Hiarcs, Gandalf 7, even Pro Deo. A net trained on Benjamin depth 8 could be very intriguing. Probably this is just because ...

Re: StockFiNN Release and Scaling

Thanks again, Dietrich. I will test it against Shashchess and Komodo 11 this week-end and post the results here or on Discord.

Re: Raphexon's NNUE eval net

Peter,

You have to search in one of the threads, where Pleomati mentioned that SF NNUE did not lost a game in the last 70. I think he did not upload these binaries, but a bit modified NodChip binaries, and indeed extremely fast binaries.

Re: Raphexon's NNUE eval net

Peter, I think that Pleomati, on Discord, has implemented a learning function for StockFish NNUE and had good results with it. I do not know how this learning functions, if it is a way of training the NN or something more classical. Indeed, an implementation of persisting learning/training would be ...
