Re: WCCC 2019 Macau..

Cool - so Leela +does+ have someone who can speak for it. Maybe you should just plan and hire some organisation guy for the next time then. This doesn't solve the vacation problem, but everything else sounds pretty easy to me. You are already thinking along similar lines ( "crowd-funding" for the op...

Re: WCCC 2019 Macau..

I am not so sure. Community efforts like Stockfish and LeelaZero can't enter that easily for obvious reasons. And if they do, they face their own challenges, like an operator who can't enter a move on the board in like 15 seconds... What obvious reasons? You'd need a lot of people to agree with eac...

Re: Does computer chess sponsorship exist?

Is there any record of people ever having received sponsorship for computer chess? I'm a year or so from buying a new server for analysis.sesse.net, and I know Intel (and probably also AMD) has a long tradition of throwing hardware at various people for research, gaming, etc.—but I've never heard o...

Re: Playing the endgame like a boss !!

Lc0 v0.21.2 was released, including "Sticky endgames" feature (default on). This makes Lc0 play better when it sees a checkmate somewhere during the search. This is sounding very non-zero, though we'd need to know the details to know. Why would this be non-zero? Similar things have been discussed a...

I can only use the BLAS versions anyway, as my computer is old

Also, if you are running on blas on old hardware, you may want to check out the distilled nets.
How old is "old" with respect to needing to use BLAS or distilled nets?
My laptop doesn't have a graphic card at all :D .

Also, if you are running on blas on old hardware, you may want to check out the distilled nets. https://github.com/dkappe/leela-chess-weights/wiki/Distilled-Networks I have checked them out. I am only running games at very slow time controls ( like game in 2 hours 10 sec increment), and though the ...

Question on current LC0 development

The 40000 design is easy to understand in a +very+ general way setup-wise from a lay viewpoint: it will lead to an extremely strong engine on current top nodge hardware. But I fail to understand what the 50000 series really is about. The resulting engines are very easy to use for me ( I can only use...

It is amazing how the ICGA officials still manage to guarantee impressive holiday locations for themselves. And yes, I am envious.

Thanks for LC0

During recent weeks I‘ve had so much fun with LC0 and watching it play. So I want to give many thanks to the developpers. But also thanks to dkappe who made the setup pretty easy or at least bearable to me with all the explanations on his site. I don’t own any powerful hardware, so I had to go with ...
