Detecting false imitation games in Databases

False imitation games are widely prevalent in large human databases. Those databases are often used in creating computer books for engine-engine games. First, an example. Here are 4 versions of the same game coming from the same database. Hopefully one version is the real game. Which one is it? [Eve...

Re: Extract positions from PGN

I'll show how to do this using my tools, in particular "40H-EPD" (see www below). Step 1: Use PGN-Extract by David Barnes to get an "epd" version of the "pgn" file: PGN-Extract -Wepd --nofauxep -s -otemp.epd alpha.pgn Step 2: Using the "epd" version of the "pgn" file, use "epdMaterial" from "40H-EPD...

Re: CEGT - rating lists March 12th 2017 - on our new domain

Hi Werner,

There's an issue with the links on the download page for 40/20, and perhaps on other download pages.

It seems that there is some repetition within the url. I was able to erase the repetition and the download then worked.

Re: But ... have a look here!

Fsux en passant in end positions could be causing the difference. Try using the --nofaux option with pgn-extract.

Re: The first release of the CGR games database

You claim the (wh) and (bl) tags are useless and idiotic on the basis of redundancy. If it were just to indicate which side he is playing I would agree with you. However... What these tags do is allow a player to be analyzed as 2 different entities. We can examine the player from each color. We can ...

split the "search.epd" file, that is the one that is limited by 100000. "temp.epd" is unlimited in size, but of course, the bigger it is, the longer it takes for the program to finish.

Re: Looking for a PGN/EPD utility

Assuming my latest suggestion does not help, here is what we can do. Can you send me a sample of the 2 pgns: about 25K games of search pgn, 100K games of data pgn? Maybe you can upload somewhere I can download. The problem could be in the pgns. If you can, try "txtChar" to see if there are any unexp...

Re: Looking for a PGN/EPD utility

note: pgn-extract is now up to 17-34 and the "--version" option works correctly.

Hope the output is ok.
