Re: Looking for a PGN/EPD utility

Good to hear it is at least running. Hope the output is ok.

I will put a clone of "txtSplit" ("epdSplit") into 40H-EPD next go-around. Likewise for "txtSort".

Re: Looking for a PGN/EPD utility

search limit now down to 1000000

If that does not work you could split search.epd using "txtSplit" with 40H-TXT

Re: Looking for a PGN/EPD utility

http://www.mediafire.com/download/7xkuc4425c375v1/epdPosition.exe I set "size" to 100000 from 100 100000 is going to take awhile to process. I suggest putting a number comment in each game of the pgn file if you have not already done so. One such program that does this is "gameNum". It is in the 40...

A possible way to speed up tablebases

First off, I do not use an SSD which is what you need for maximum efficiency with tablebases. However my idea will apply to those who do. I use a USB 3.0 stick for syzygy 3-4-5-6-man tbs. I have a 3.0 usb port. Not quite as good as an SSD, but by setting probe depth to 12, I feel I am in good shape....

Re: Have engines updated for fide 2014 draw rules?

The way I see it, the "75 move" rule is "ineffective" because the option of a "50 move" draw is still there between moves 51 and 75. For example, suppose players decline the "50 move" draw option when it first occurs, and play on. Suppose around the 70th move without capture or pawn move, player A s...

Have engines updated for fide 2014 draw rules?

Around 2002, Fide went back to the strict 50 move rule after experimenting with higher draw move limits. There was always a draw that took more moves than the Fide draw move limit. The current record is 517 moves. The history is in the link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifty-move_rule However in 2...

Re: CCRL 40/40, 40/4 and FRC lists updated (21st January 201

I concur that the 50-move rule has to be invoked by the player having the move. And once the checkmate has occurred, the game was ended, depriving the checkmated player of claiming a 50-move draw, 9.3 The game is drawn, upon a correct claim by a player having the move, if: he writes his move, which ...
