Now having some test hardware, I can confirm that 5.5.8 looks like the best version so far.
Moreover a serious time management bug has been fixed.

Re: Cutechessing with Fruit/Gnuchess on a 16-core errors with "connection stalls"

I have some more information:
Accidentally, I ran Fruit 2.1 with Xboard-Protocol which may have caused the problems. With UCI it works fine.

As gnuchess and Fruit are somehow siblings, I guess their xboard protocol is the same, so is the bug.

Cutechessing with Fruit/Gnuchess on a 16-core errors with "connection stalls"

Hello together, I am trying to play a couple of hundred games on a 16-core Linux server with cutechess-cli. It works flawlessy with any version of OliThink, but when Fruit or Gnuchess (5 or 6) are playing the tournament, it will abruptly end after a unknown time with an error "Terminating process of...

Re: Looking for automatic Engine Testing Software

If you are serious about testing enough to order a 32 core box, suggest using Ordo in addition to other tools. Sample command: ./ordo -Q -N 0 -D -a 0 -A "nameofengineusedforzeroElo" -W -n4 -s500 -U "0,1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,6" -p your.pgn It would be nice to have a MacOSX release, too. Typically hardly...

Re: Looking for automatic Engine Testing Software

If you are serious about testing enough to order a 32 core box, Very serious. I will be renting it and it's not even very expensive, about 130 EUR/month because I don't need any resources other than CPU Cores, while Leela doesn't need even those... ...suggest using Ordo in addition to other tools. ...

Re: Looking for automatic Engine Testing Software

Hello again, now I am looking for a nice pgn file with a lot of diversified openings. Do you have tips? Thank you! EDIT: I found already the Silver Suite, it's very very nice for tests of 100-200 matches. I have created something similar also with 50 openings, it was a lot of work. How can I attach ...

If you want to be able to watch the games, you could also use XBoard. (Available for Linux and Mac.)
Thank you for this tip. I am using xboard, but it can't give me the numbers.
Cutechess works well. Today, I have ordered a 32core server :)

Re: cutechess-cli produces no screen output under Linux

On a Red Hat 7.7 those were the necessary steps to install cutechess(cli). yum install qt5-qtsvg wget https://github.com/cutechess/cutechess/releases/download/gui-1.0.0/cutechess-20170720.1.0.0.1.0.0-1.x86_64.rpm rpm -i cutechess-20170720.1.0.0.1.0.0-1.x86_64.rpm export QT_LOGGING_RULES="*.debug=tru...

Re: Looking for automatic Engine Testing Software

Thank you for your tips! As far as I can tell, there are two possibilities: Cutechess or OpenBench. Both seem to provide: - Cross platform - Concurrent Games on multiple CPU Cores - Xboard Protocol What are the main differences between those two? OpenBench makes some assumptions, for example that an...
