Re: Why is stockfish so smart?

seriously. look at these games. in two of the four games, nakamura was a pawn up right from the start. a draw seems hard enough to reach for a super grandmaster. and chess engines getting stronger almost every day. humans lost this battle years ago (but at the same time this accomplishment is also ...

Re: Why is stockfish so smart?

Stockfish is good but Garry Kasparov is still better than Stockfish. Top GMs are still much better than chess engines when it comes to things like planning, opening tactics, memory, endgame understanding etc. There is still a very long way to go until artificial intelligence will outsmart a Top Gran...

Re: Will a Komodo 9 catch up with Stockfish ?

Houdini 5 should have been released already. It's already taking them too much time.

I just hope that Houdini 5 and Komodo 9 will be better than current Stockfish.

How to create open files in chess?

Many books and programs teach you what to do once you already have a open file in the position but what they don't teach you is how to CREATE an open file.

So what are some of the best ways to create open files in chess?

Re: Houdini can beat Carlsen even if he takes any 3 moves ba

The best FIDE players like Carlsen, Anand, Kasparov, Boris Gelfand, Sergey Karjakin can still win a lot of games against Houdini and especially the earlier versions of Houdini (before Houdini 4 Professional). Houdini still makes mistakes and sometimes Houdini gets stuck in the evaluations (meaning i...

Re: Who is stronger at chess? Computers or Humans?

Incorrect. Just ask Carlsen, Anand and other legitimately qualified super-GMs. I'm just telling the truth. Computer chess algorithms don't stand a chance against the best human chess players and especially Correspondence GMs. Even the Rybka Cluster, called Rechenschieber or something, got crushed s...

Re: Who is stronger at chess? Computers or Humans?

I think that human masters (and by master I mean 2400 FIDE) are far better than chess engines by at least a 1000 Elo points. And I'm not even about Advanced Chess or Correspondence GMs. Chess engines clearly don't know to play chess very well and not even the best ones. Houdini 3 Pro was beaten 10-0...

Re: The A.R.B Chess System v The Hippopotamus Defence - Diff

I expect him to lose but I do not see what it is going to prove. A single loss does not prove that Anthony.R.Brown cheated and it is clearly possible that he lost many games before he could achieve a win against houdini. I do not remember him claiming that he can avoid losing against houdini in mos...

Re: I think I'm leaving Chess for good

This is a disappointment. Many people believed that in the year 2013 a computer will be able to defeat all humans in chess, even the most gifted ones. People thought that chess computers will become superhumanly intelligent. But apparently humans can still surpass computers in chess and even by a lo...
