Syzygy question

I wonder how I can check that the syzygy dtz tablebases are working correctly, as it seems that an engine doesn't report them being used.

Maybe it is doing something similar to what texel does: http://talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 91&t=52469
Could indeed be something like this, but perhaps I just see impossible things...

Re: Stockfish with syzygys gives not mate in 1

It was addressed at stockfish, not at syzygy. No need to feel attacked.

I can confirm your observation as well. Also tried houdini with syzygy and there it worked as expected.

It takes Houdini 52 seconds to switch to Be3, whereas Stockfish needs less than a second. 24/55 0:01 0.00 1...Kd4 2.Ng2 Kc4 3.Ne1 Kd4 (15.914.257) 12185 TB:25 25/55 0:02 0.00 1...Kd4 2.Ng2 Kc4 3.Ne1 Kd4 (25.830.629) 12526 TB:77 26/55 0:02 0.00 1...Kd4 2.Ng2 Kc4 3.Ne1 Kd4 (34.347....

Re: Why is Houdini 4 so clueless?

You show no understanding of the real situation. Your game was won by black almost right out of book and both engines knew it looking at the evaluation.

Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand

Have fun.
