Re: Tricky bishop vs knight endgame

It takes Houdini 52 seconds to switch to Be3, whereas Stockfish needs less than a second. 24/55 0:01 0.00 1...Kd4 2.Ng2 Kc4 3.Ne1 Kd4 (15.914.257) 12185 TB:25 25/55 0:02 0.00 1...Kd4 2.Ng2 Kc4 3.Ne1 Kd4 (25.830.629) 12526 TB:77 26/55 0:02 0.00 1...Kd4 2.Ng2 Kc4 3.Ne1 Kd4 (34.347....

Re: Why is Houdini 4 so clueless?

You show no understanding of the real situation. Your game was won by black almost right out of book and both engines knew it looking at the evaluation.

Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand

Have fun.

Re: Why is Houdini 4 so clueless?

My post isn't about a single game, about winning or loosing. It's about a pattern I see on a regular basis and that is that Houdini gets outplayed by Stockfish and doesn't have a clue until it's too late. The game posted is merely an example. What surprises me most is the immaturity of a certain per...

Re: Why is Houdini 4 so clueless?

Thanks Anil for pointing to that topic. Looking at the last post on page one and I see exactly what I am talking about, but now in a slow game. In the 27th round, Houdini probably lost due to a bug. After 49...Qb7 evaluation and depth were abnormal until 56...Nxe5 : 49.Nd4 -0.28/32 3:23 Qb7 -1.63/40...

Re: Why is Houdini 4 so clueless?

Let me start with a quote from houdini's website. Houdini 4 uses calibrated evaluations in which engine scores correlate directly with the win expectancy in the position. A +1.00 pawn advantage gives a 80% chance of winning the game against an equal opponent at blitz time control. At +2.00 the engin...

Why is Houdini 4 so clueless?

Time and again I see houdini being clueless against stockfish of the danger that is upon it until it is too late. To be honest it frustates me that a €60 engine gets outplayed so often by a free engine. An example. [Event "Rated game, 5 min"] [Site "Engine Room"] [Date "2014.03.03"] [Round "?"] [Whi...
