Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

Mr kaufman believes that Roman Dzindzichashvili would agree with him. Do you disagree with that ? http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?dln=91001;pid=98152 (1)Dr Hyatt implies gm's agree with him. any comment on that. (2)also you say , "this should knock off somewhere around 100-200...

Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

Please could you respond to this post from Mr kaufman http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?dln=91016;pid=98159 .. I think that there is a fairly good way to test the hypothesis that doesn't require a new interface or engine. First, we make a version of Rybka with only tiny eval wei...

Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

Mr kaufman's estimates for the eval elo of rybka would be about 2300 but going to 2950 against a gm who can avoid tactical mistakes. what would be your rough alternative figures ? http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?pid=98134;msg=ReplyPost Well, I agree with all but your second se...

Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

So 3 above is the sticky issue. how much can a deep search with rudimentary positional understanding offset the human's much better understanding but much shallower (overall) search? ... Mr kaufman I believe sees this exactly the same as you. You just differ in the answer. if rybka won with the one ...

Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

Is it possible to test who does the better positional moves, by allowing the gm takebacks only in the case where he loses material to some tactical combination. I think Mr Kaufman said that allowing one move takebacks is 'only' worth 150 elo and is confident rybka would win a gm under such conditio...

Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

I think rudolf huber's sos has a material only version. if both rybka and sos were limited to 16 ply , would that be fair, or are ply defined too differently. what happens if mr kaufman compiles a version with all the evaluation code removed, would that be a reasonable test. or would a limited form ...

Re: question to prof Hyatt re kaufman and best positional m

http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?dln=89801;pid=97067 Meaning no disrespect to Prof. Hyatt, unless I am misunderstanding him somehow I think his answer is totally wrong. He seems to imply that if a Grandmaster is given an engine that knows only material values, and some reasonab...
