Re: Engines playing Musketeer Chess, good price

OK, I see. When I still was a physicist I used similar stochastic methods to optimize parameters of models for the electrical field inside an atom. My experience was that in this simple form they did not work very well. The problem was that they probe around by an equal amount in all directions in ...

Re: Engines playing Musketeer Chess, good price

I understand the match part, but what else would you expect WinBoard to do, concerning the parameters? How would it change these parameters in the first place? Are they engine options? Yes the parameters can be an engine option for example, feature option="queenvalue -spin 950 800 1200" I don't kno...

Re: Can somebody do simply this? By far the strongest engine!

Glad it works too on GPU. This program has the potential to run lc0 on gpu and sf on cpu at the same time. But what to do with their best moves :) One idea is to send the bestmove of lc0 to sf at some point in time and let sf try to reply on it (checking tactics or so). If sf likes it, that move is ...

Re: Engines playing Musketeer Chess, good price

Well, it sounds like you would have to change and recompile the engine for that to create a new version. Surely you do not expect WinBoard to compile your source code and make changes to it? Engine parameter optimizations are mostly done by playing an engine match (Texel tuning uses position tests)...

Yes, it's possible. see ./cutechess-cli --help -noswap Do not swap sides of paired engines Keeps being refused by cute, even in the latests 1.0 version. cutechess-cli -concurrency 4 -engine name=Ethereal_12 cmd=Ethereal_12.exe proto=uci -engine name=SF11 cmd=sf11.exe proto=uci -noswap -each restart...

Re: Extracting quiet positions?

When using --static-eval in extracting quiet pos and pvlen is 4 as default and using Stockfish 11, it can happen that the pv output is below 4, in this case the program will fail to determine if this position is quiet or not. Example. 1Qq5/2P1p1kp/3r1pp1/8/8/7P/p4PP1/2R3K1 b - - bm Rc6; id "WAC.206"...

Re: Extracting quiet positions?

Created a repo at https://github.com/fsmosca/Quiet-Position-Extractor Will read the epd, analyze it with engine, save the pv of engine analysis. * If score is mate, don't extract. * If pv has moves below 4 (settable via option pvlen), don't extract * If there is capture or promote or a check in one ...

@Ferdy: Thanks for the tip, but I rarely play rated games, if ever.
The idea is to see if Fritz 11 has the UCI_LimitStrength feature.
