An Apology to Dr. Hyatt

Dr. Hyatt... Many moons ago we were discussing a certain topic (had to do with "the law" and "speeding"). The point where I dropped the conversation was when I came down with a nasty cold... That cold or maybe I had just taken a stupid pill the day of my last response, but I made a statement somethi...

Re: What the computer chess community needs to decide

Nice, a complete copy of Robbolito +100 Elo above R4. Amazing copy. Please don't be ridiculous. "Sophistry" as I think K. I. Hyams and "Jean-Luc Picard" would also describe that. Today only a complete asshole would start coding a new engine from scratch Wow and here I was almost thinking the revers...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

He proved his talents after the alleged crime. You have no need to school me on Vas's talent. I beta tested for him all throughout version 2.x... thousands of games at the Playchess engine room. Daily emails (or nearly so) for months during that time. I like Vas. I sincerely like the man. I have qu...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

I adressed this. In fact, you are ignoring that he said he did not find Strelka illegal. Anyway, we already knew this before. I am not ignoring anything... I am not picking this statement from "here" and another one from "there" to support what I want to believe. " - Zach Wegner found many Fruit id...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

Who is sane enough to think that Vas only won the titles because he copied Fruit and not his extraordinary talent as a programmer? Me... it does not (appear) to take "extraordinary talent" to take a World Class chess engine and convert it to Bitboard (with a few personal changes in the code). Knowl...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

Now that you mention Zach, i will give you a history lesson. A year and half ago he left and said he would be back in 2 weeks with irrefutable proof Vas was guilty. He didnt come back for 6 weeks- and came back with nothing. Thanks for the education... but who cares how long it takes? Why the smugn...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

BTW, Fabien did not give any opinion at all. He asked questions, and nothing else. I sincerely "beg to differ" sir! I did not post "questions" by him in the "notable quotes" above. One could say, "Fabien did not give any opinion at all." And I would respond, you are correct he did not give opinion....

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

Hi Rob am i reading your post correctly? it seems you are acknowledging the Friut---> Rybka connection here Hi Steve, You read "correctly". a fairly significant reversal for you i think? The short answer is yes... I cannot possibly understand how a "reasonable" person presented with the information...

Re: A Very Novel Idea Concerning Vas- BE FAIR

And again, i say 4 programmers who have studied it will never reach a unified decision. Amazing! How about 5?! I believe I understand these gentlemen correctly and there is a general consensus. Dr. Bob Hyatt, Matthias Gemuh, Fabien Letouzey, Dr. Alexander Schmidt, Zach Wegner... I would be willing ...
