Re: Advice on book building

The WinBoard 4.8 distribution conains a file empty_book.bin, so there is no need to create it; it already exists. Just select empty_book.bin as book, or create a renamed copy and select that as book, and start editing it. From the image I posted above how do I select this empty book? I see no optio...

Now what? How do you set up a position?

Well... You have to right-click an empty square, hold the right click, and drag the mouse around to rotate the available pieces.

Yes, I'm not kidding.

And that's only the beginning.
Oh goodness...

Re: Advice on book building

Is there a help file on this? Not really, but it doesn't seem rocket science. What I wrote above pretty much describes all there is to it. Ugh...It's not intuitive to me. For creating a new book intuitive would be: File - New - Opening Book For example. The only "book" item I can see is Engine - Bo...

Re: Advice on book building

WinBoard / XBoard allows you to display the book moves for any given position, alter their weights, delete moves, or add new moves. The latter can be done by playing them on the board (after you pressed the button 'Play Move' in the edit window). The played move will then be added with weight 1. (A...

Advice on book building

I'm looking for a GUI which can make opening books to be used with an engine to play against another engine. The Book-building GUI should be: * (relatively) easy to use * Able to make books with single move additions, rather than a database dump * Be able to deal with weights where there are a varie...

Re: Tactical mistake by Stockfish (Grischuk-Ding at candidates)

I’m not sure. It’s cut & paste from Aquarium and it might be a graphical error.

After 1 second Lc0 showed about-0.4 and after 10 seconds
-0.54 IIRC

Re: Tactical mistake by Stockfish (Grischuk-Ding at candidates)

Very strange.

At first I thought this was a pruning issue by SF, but all the alpha-betas struggle here. I even went back to Zappa Mexico II and it couldn't find it either!

Re: Dual EPYC

It appears none of the Tier 1 companies sell EPYC serves other than in rack format and as of today, I could find anyone selling a 128 core dual EPYC configuration. A dual EPYC with 128 cores will cost close to $20,000 or more from any Tier 1. In all honesty, I would just go with a 3990x with a high...
