Benjamin is not the Benjamin...

. The new engine Benjamin by Ed Schröder https://www.rebel13.nl/home/benjamin.html is certainly not the big hit in tournament chess. But in certain positions it shows everyone else how chess works... 5b2/p4pk1/5np1/2r1p2p/2B1r3/1PQR4/P4PKP/8 b - - 0 37 [Event "CfishR - AllieStein, Comp 2020"] [Site ...

An insignificant advantage for white.
Yes, computer games between strong engines work like this: they gradually accumulate "insignificant advantages",
which then lead to victory in the end.

The Walking Knight

It is very worthwhile to take a closer look at the games of the TCEC tournaments! You can find real pearls there. For example in the game rofChade 2.3 vs Stoofvlees II a14 a few days ago. There an impressive walk of a knight happened over the whole board. Such "strategic" moves are usually only seen...

Re: Score this position

In this position [d] 1kbQ2R1/1pr2q1r/2p2p1p/4pP1P/4P3/1P1P4/P1P5/2K3R1 w - - 13 36 g1g6 is the final move of white infiltrated black position, the queens will be gone soon, and white will create a passed pawn that may cost black its bishop. Stockfish is scoring this +2.3, Minic does the same. Do yo...

Re: Is EMAN the future number one?

PS: The author of Eman will certainly be happy that there are now already two people in this forum who are dealing with his engine... ;-) He won't be happy when one of them rightfully requests the source code. I don't think he cares. Probably it's enough for him that he can beat Ethereal & Co. with...

Re: Is EMAN the future number one?

I think it is more better to use a good book or Brainfish and analyze the lacking positions with a good engine, like Stockfish/Brainfish. A good engine can weight the positions in the book. This behavior is in Chessbase Fritz engines from the 1990' years! CB books are not so helpful when it comes t...

Re: Is EMAN the future number one?

the bigger the learning file of Eman the smaller the speed of Eman. For an average opening repertoire Eman need such a big learning file what is unusable That's also my experience. The learn file and the automatic generation of an Eman book is especially useful when analyzing games. There it can be...
