Re: Carlsen wins Pearl Spring with 3002 performance

I completely agree with you Sam. My trollometer already reached unbelievable heights for 'Mr. Lonola' for other posts of him in the last 10 days. Obviously trolling is his only business and I find several insulting posts there already. I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly shows up as another 'Ste...

Re: Carlsen wins Pearl Spring with 3002 performance

Fanboys, fanboys, fanboys. I have not seen any "evidence" from the fanboys that Carlsen is at the elite level. Let me give you acceptable "evidence" of being at the elite :- - emergence as the top player in a classical world chess championship cycle like Karpov when he faced Fischer or Kaspar...

Re: CCC Forum vs BigLion chess960

... I'm analysing the current position with Shredder 12, and after 7 mins, depth 20, it's evaluation is +0.55 I'm not sure why you think Nd6 is a blunder. actually the blunder would be if we played 16.dxc5 leaving us with two isolated pawns :o i think Matthias might have overlooked that BL can reca...

Graham Banks wrote:For the record, Protector 1.2.7 seems to be around the same strength as Frenzee Feb08, Delfi 5.4 and Twisted Logic 20080620.
Here it is around the same strength as Toga-FruitII 1.41SE, which is of
course much stronger than your mentioned ballpark above.
(No surprise knowing its origin)

Graham Banks wrote:Well I must have been lucky. I've never had any serious issues with the many versions of Fritz that I've bought. I'm picking that most people haven't, otherwise the company wouldn't exist.
Well, M$ also still exists ;-)

Re: Only Fritz 12 ?????

Actually I like Chessbase, their news, the GUI is not perfect but beats anything else I tried with a wide margin, that including Arena of course, which is, frankly speaking, horrible. I like that they release Fritz after so many years, and that it is so strong, especially if you consider only 32-bi...

Re: CCC Forum vs BigLion chess960

About 10 hrs left for the vote I think Gerold changed to d3, which if true would mean Rc1 - Andranik, Matthias Be2 - Graham d3 - Steve B, Gerold I like 6. Nd3 and think d3 is premature and unnecessary because 6...Ne4 does nothing anyway. If 6...Bf5 which looks natural to me then I would play 7. Be2...

Re: CCC Forum vs BigLion chess960

Bb2 - Matthias, Christopher d2-d3 - Gerold Ngf3 or c4 Tano-Urayoan Russi Roman Steve will go with Bb2 or c4, which one depends if there is a tie I'll take Bb2 as the forum move if that is OK I'll report BigLion's move in about 12 hrs, which is likely to be a castle 2. Bb2 of course. Guenther
