Re: On Opening books in 2015
I have thought about this for a considerable amount of time theoretically, and I've also invested some time and effort by now to verify that my thoughts cannot be falsified (too) easily. This is about slow time controls and conditions similar to those in an ICGA WCCC event - sth like 3min/move on r...

Re: Leo Dijksman (WBEC) deceased
Leo was a big inspiration for computerchess.
We certainly had some fun years in what seemed the golden times
of computerchess in hindsight.
It is hard to accept he is gone now. Farewell Leo and all the best to his family.

Re: Strange moves
Yes, I think top human players are objectively around 1100 elo at most, while top engines hover somewhere around 5600 elo. Very Happy Those humans really are a pain to look at. Lyudmil Tsvetkov now this is your biggest blunder. you have posted a game between two humans that each make a 12 point blu...

Re: UCI engine EubosChess
Hello, https://github.com/cjbolt/EubosChess comes with a source code. Can anyone of you create a Java-executable (.jar-file) that runs normally on Arena / ChessGUI or WinBoard, please? Best wishes, Norbert This is no complete chess program and the whole repository was created just 12 days ago. Guen...

Re: Winboard 4.8.0b and PolyGlot 2.0.3 adjudication issues
Promote move is flagged as illegal but is not. I have 2 more cases like this so far. Verify engine claims and detect mates are set to ON. 67...Kc3 { -99.90/10 0.5 polyglot: resign (illegal engine move by white: g7g8) but bare king } 1/2-1/2 In a strict way the move is illegal, because the promoted ...

Try the v0.9.8.4-beta1 version https://sites.google.com/site/gaviotachessengine/download/bleeding_edge use the flag -t 10 for a minimum threshold of 10 games, for instance. Let me know if it does what it is supposed to do. I made many other internal changes, so... beware it is beta. Miguel Thanks! ...
