Stockfish Handicap Test

This is an attempt (using an outdated computer) to determine how much Stockfish may have been "handicapped" against AlphaZero. Engine: Brainfish 140118 CPU: Xeon L5420 @ 2.5 GHz Number of cores used per engine: 1 Adjudication: none The generic Stockfish 8 Linux compile from abrok.eu averages about 1...

Re: AlphaZero Chess test - SF8 16 GB vs. 512 MB

I did some single core test 1 MB vs. 64 MB. HERT500.PGN book. With fixed time=1 sec 1 MB was better than bigger? With 60s + 0,6s it changed totally: 1 SF 64MB +42 +33/=158/-9 56.00% 112.0/200 2 SF 1MB -42 +9/=158/-33 44.00% 88.0/200 Obviously fixed time per move DESTROYS SF SEARCH BADLY! How does f...

Re: Chess World to Google Deep Mind..Prove You beat Stockfis

That would all be very interesting, but I don't see how that is necessary to make the preprint "scientific". (And a preprint with 44 million games would cost a lot of trees to print out. We didn't get all that information for AlphaGo, but I suppose all the AlphaGo papers are equally unscientific?) ...

Re: Komodo Sub

Hmm... A few thoughts come to mind: 1) With Komodo's development being a 2 man operation, they are susceptible to delays due to events out of their control. For example, since the last update Mark has had to deal with a hurricane and iirc the death of a parent. 2) There were 5 updates in 2016 and 3 ...

Re: Dear Google AlphaZero chess team.

It wasn't clear in your reply to Uly that this is what you meant. Several hundred Elo weaker than SF is due to the one important fact that you forgot in your comment. At 1min/move in the paper SF has been severely handicapped to up to probably 100Elo. Compared to what? Game in 80 minutes? Compared ...
