Re: A blast from the past

I am at least 3000 under quiet conditions. And ALL the most advanced chess theory is due to me: https://en.chessbase.com/post/the-secret-of-chess Which, next to your 2200 or so chess.com rating is hilarious. I guess 2200 players should respect 3000 ones more, but maybe your family did not teach you...

Re: CCLS: New tournament (league system) - Introduction

Miguel is a huge River Plate fan. Yeah, it has been 3 1/2 years or so since the last update. I have been waiting for Miguel to find the time and the interest to start working on Gaviota again. Maybe one day it will happen. The only reason why I brought this up is that you included several engines th...

Re: CCLS: New tournament (league system) - Introduction

I noticed that the Argentinian engine Gaviota is missing from the Junior league. Are you a Boca Juniors fan? :D

Re: Dear Google AlphaZero chess team.

It wasn't clear in your reply to Uly that this is what you meant. Several hundred Elo weaker than SF is due to the one important fact that you forgot in your comment. At 1min/move in the paper SF has been severely handicapped to up to probably 100Elo. Compared to what? Game in 80 minutes? Compared ...

Re: Dear Google AlphaZero chess team.

Well, re: the "as shown in the very same paper" bit, let's not go too crazy :) Nothing in the paper indicates that A0 loses several hundred points relative to SF at game in 5 minutes (for that matter, such a time control is not discussed at all). The only part of the paper remotely close to talking...

Re: AlphaZero Chess is not that strong ...

I've got someone interested in running the test. I need a suitable opening book. Suggestions? Here are the Polyglot books bundled with Scid vs PC: http://www.mediafire.com/file/2z80v280gbbm6dq/books.7z There are probably better books out there for this test, but they tend to be private or in Chessb...

Re: Incredible Stockfish Patch

Stockfish and Houdini would be worth much less in comparison, if that were to happen. Indeed, Houdini attempted a learning feature, but it was so bad nobody used it and it was removed from later versions. I guess a problem is Stockfish Learning is GPL'd, by definition you can't plug it in yo...

Re: AlphaZero Chess is not that strong ...

Once saturated, it governs depth reached in search over a given period of time quite strongly. That is not what I found in my engine. The search only slowed down if the 'saturation' reaches a factor 10: http://home.hccnet.nl/h.g.muller/hash.jpg Is your statement based on anything else than blind gu...
