Re: ECO Classification of EPD records

Sorry, I'm too focused on evaluating ELO performance by STS.
Beg your pardon for this misreading ... (I grabbed a cow by the balls ... ) :-(

Re: ECO Classification of EPD records

If I understand correctly, it should be a byproduct of Swami question on sts-x importances. At the moment, the regression method has been applied to about thirty engines, with prediicted cegt elo error +- 50, more or less, but there is some instability. I'm waiting for other engines results, and a m...

Re: STS - List the Order of Importance

I understand that the new software Sts stat would allow partial scores. What do you suggest to do? I can go on looking for outliers ( as I said you Typhoon (?) and Cerebro are strange, much better in your tests than in elo - bad time management in matches??), and other behaviours, and analyses. The ...

Re: Strongest Toga?

I can't even count how many various Togas they are: with some possible duplications, I have almost 100MB.
don't forget cyrenbomb, fruitcake... and some other.

Re: STS - List the Order of Importance

partial credit scores could be a good idea: currently, if an engine finds a slighly lower move, it is penalized as much as an engine that blunders in the position.
May be that some of the dispersion comes from that.

I was thinking about it yesterday, but believed it was too difficult to implement.

Re: STS - List the Order of Importance

yes we need more, and on a bigger range: actually, the predictions are rather unstable, for what concers out-of-sample engines

Re: STS - List the Order of Importance

Up to now I found an almost acceptable predictive Cegt Elo model (Sts values non normalized), with a mean standard error around the estimates about 45 Elos (no diagnostic trouble with the possible exception of Typhoon). Some funny things appear, however... More to follow. When finished I'd send you ...

Re: An idea for Vas about releasing rybka4 mp

Agreed, but it would be a bit expensive, if you want the best... (according to your judgement criterion). And I'm rather sure that, after a few days, we will see on some site, an ELO evaluation, so that the weaker ones will be forgot forever. I'm again repeating myself: I believe there are ( at leas...
