Re: Is Crafty 23.1-win64.exe MP
100 Solved. This was driving me up wall as Fritz refused to report more than 1 cpu, however, with the line mt=4 in crafty.rc, task manager reports 99% cpu usage, meaning all 4 cores are being used. I was earlier running the engine without crafty.rc in the directory. With this setup, task manager rep...

Re: Is Crafty 23.1-win64.exe MP
I didn't see that link on the Main Downloads screen. Thanks I unzipped and copied to C:\Program Files (x86)\ChessBase\Engines. Fritz does not see it either as active or inactive. I did thought notice that crafty 23.00 and crafty 19.01 were both available as inactive engines and had their matching *....

Re: Is Crafty 23.1-win64.exe MP
Chessbase only has a 32 bit version. I tried adding to the command line of the wb2uci.eng file when calling the program. In command line mode this uses 4 threads, but Fritz still uses one.
Could somebody please compile a native chessbase 64bit version.
Thanks

Re: Is Crafty 23.1-win64.exe MP
I set up a standard wb2uci file: [ENGINE] Name=Crafty 23.1 64 bit Author D.R. Robery Hyatt Filename=Wb2Uci.exe [OPTIONS] Program=crafty-23.1-win64.exe Ponder=false It loads and Plays in Fritz, but Fritz Shows 1 cpu. I have an older version 20.14w32 that uses 4 cps's. It is SMP. Try adding Threads=4...

Joker114w and CPU Temperatures
This is very interesting. On my I7-920 running at stock speed, quad core engines get my cpu to between 44 and 49 degrees celcius. Single core engines get it between 41 and 42 degrees celcius. Joker 114w (single core) consistently gets my cpu to 45 degrees celcius! Is this an example of efficient pro...

Re: Can't get old Fritz Engines Recognized in Fritz 11
I am not 100% sure, but I think these are not supported anymore because they are 16 bit engines (from the Windows 3.11 era). 32 bit versions should work. I had initially accepted your answer, but am hoping that there is a way around this. On my 32 Bit Windows XP System, Fritz 3, 4 and 5 all work, i...

Re: What tests do you use for engine testing?
Regarding opening books: Simply have the engines play short books and make sure to play each openings (exact position out of book) and play enough games for the results to be statistically relevant. The opening books chosen does not matter. I disagree, choice of opening book is important. An openin...

Can't get old Fritz Engines Recognized in Fritz 11
I Installed Fritz4 and Fritz5 from my CD. I copied the files: fritz311.eng fritz401.eng fritz120.eng fritz500.eng fritz311.dll fritz401.dll fritz120.dll into: c:\program files\chessbase and c:\program files\chessbase\engines and c:\program files\chessbase\chessprogram11 Fritz11 does not see these en...
