Regarding opening books:
Simply have the engines play short books and make sure to play each openings (exact position out of book) and play enough games for the results to be statistically relevant.
The opening books chosen does not matter.

Re: Engines Crashing in the Fritz 11 when Playing Tournament
I once emailed Chessbase support with this issue. They were not helpful and suggested that I don't play with the "buggy engines." Nothing has changed with the buggy Fritz GUI and the Chessbase support  Never had any problems running tournaments under Fritz. The bugs probably lie elsewhere, in ...

Re: Engines Crashing in the Fritz 11 when Playing Tournament
This solved my problem. I'm off to shorten other engine names. It is not relevant enough to troubleshoot anymore, but it still strikes me odd that Fritz didn't have a problem with the long engine name when running an engine match?! Also the old long engine name is still displayed when running. I hav...

Engines Crashing in the Fritz 11 when Playing Tournaments
I prefer running Gauntlets and Round Robin Tournaments in the Fritz (Currently have Fritz 11 - Will shortly install Fritz 12) interface, as this allows me to include the Fritz Engines. I see posters in the "Tournaments and Matches" forum using the Fritz Interface and am hoping that I am doing someth...

Thanks for all of the code and links.
Has anybody written a program to convert to and from the chessbase *.ctg format?
If so, pls post and or link.

Triple Channel Memory VS Dual Channel
I have a choice to make.
I have 1600 MHZ DDR3 Ram.
I purchased 8 Gigs (2x4) but if I use all modules, the system will use it as Dual Channel. If I only use 3 modules, the system will treat it as triple channel.
For Chess, is 6 gig of Triple Chanel Ram better than 8 gig of dual channel Ram?
Thanks

Re: Gaviota 3-4-5 Soon available
I found some that I was missing and am getting them now. This page that I found in the thread: http://olympuschess.com/egtb/gaviota/ only has download links for 121 *.bz2 files It looks like Joshua is updating the page now, as I find it unlikely that I didn't see the 11 missing files earlier. I'll ...
