Re: My failed attempt to change TCEC NN clone rules

It’s the almost impossible task of catching up with all the work already done and being, lc0. It’s the reason the other NNs are essentially just piggybacks on LC0, because their developers simply can’t do the mass of work involved. It would be like trying to catch Stockfish with something based on ...

Re: 29 Alpha-Beta's against Leela...

But why do we need a 30 or 40 depth search to play a game of chess. It sounds to me like using 30 tons of tnt to open a door we could easily open by putting a key into the lock that fits. Yes we can use 64 CPU cores and compute up to depth 45 . But why ?? What do you want to demonstrate with this ?...

Re: Google "DeepMind" AI Chief Placed On Leave..

Well servicing losses in the correct phrase since there is simply no way one makes 500 million loss by paying wages. DeepMind has 700 employees. So even if average salary is 300k, which is highly unlikely, that is only 200 million for salaries. So where did those 300 million go? Instead of arguing ...

Re: Google "DeepMind" AI Chief Placed On Leave..

As far as one can tell, the owners of Google, Alphabet, make 100 billion sales, 30 billion profits annually. Their entire future rests on staying cutting edge, hence the big spend buying up broad swathes of highly qualified talent, preferably all of it, I think is the line taken. If this costs 0.5 ...

Re: What I really want in a system...

I started thinking about what would be an Idea machine. The idea I came up with is for AMD to design a new CPU that uses the defective chiplets ( i.e. chiplets with less than 6 usable cores on them but do have a working memory controller. Putting four of these on the chip would give the cpu 16-core...

Re: buying a new computer

"Own power plant" for 100 extra W, seriously??? You can run it for a full month non-stop to accumulate the same amount of energy as one charge of Tesla Model 3 car. "Own power plant"....it is not uncommon that people have solar plants on their roof, I know some gauchos who own windmills. Let us ass...

Re: buying a new computer

Someone ever considered a refurbished workstation? I got a HP Z620, I7, 2.8-3.5Ghz, 20 cores, 40 threads, 16Gb ram, 500Gb SSD, 2 x 1 TB harddisk for under 1000 euro with 2 year guarantee. ...unless you have your own power plant and running 24/7, I guess it pays off to invest in CPUs/GPUs based on s...

So far, this is the highest ranked game using that opening that I have found: [Event "Napoleon Trophy Blitz"] [Site "La Roche-sur-Yon FRA"] [Date "2019.02.16"] [Round "6"] [White "Van Foreest, Jorden"] [Black "Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime"] [Result "0-1"] [WhiteElo "2618"] [BlackElo "2780"] [ECO "C20"] ...
