Re: Deep Rybka 4.1 vs Houdini 3

Theoretically if there's a difference around 70 elo between 2 versions of the same engine (H3 and H1.5a) the strongest version should have a better performance against a common opponent. Only if the number of games is sufficient! Rybka 4 is rated 3048, has a performance of 3110 ± 70 against Houdini...

I know a lot of people have asked for that as well.

I just Babasfish for that or the Dasher interface for ICC.

I don't mind having my internet play be in a separate GUI.

Re: Review of Hiarcs Chess Explorer

Thanks Tom. I will be ordering it very soon... I hope we get to see Engine-Vs-Engine matches and DGT support soon. At least a promise from the hiarcs team that we will get it in this version series! BTW Tom, Did the board sounds appear nice and neat? Also some nice guy had made good videos too and ...

Review of Hiarcs Chess Explorer

I am late to the party as I just purchased HCE earlier this week. However my initial impressions are VERY favorable. Hiarcs Chess Explorer is very close to being THE one stop database/analysis/playing GUI for me. Pros: Ease of Use Switching Engines! The only GUI that is easier to use than the Shredd...

Re: Houdini 3 released

Komodo 5 runs with just 1 core and is only 25 points behind Houdini. When will Komodo multicore version be released ? If you see below the IPON playing conditions state that all engines are running on 1 core! So Whatever gain Houdini has on Komodo it is all based on 1 core at this time on the IPON ...

Re: Houdini 3 released

Big congratulations to Mr. Houdart. It's clear that the tremendous strength improvement didn't happen by tuning values, but by adding new chess knowledge, search improvements, etc. I don't see any tremendous strenght improvement, for now. Basing on the most reliable (in my opinion) rating list, ipo...

Re: Trend by commercial authors!

Of late I see a change in the way a commercial engine is publicized. There are a few steps that happen prior the release of a new engine. 1. Some 'unknown member' comes all of a sudden and 'asks' about an impending about-to-be-released-but-not-yet version. 2. The Engine Author then will 'faithfully...

Re: My favorite chess apps for android

4) Droidfish: This is a nice easy to use app but it has no limit strength and I am not good enough to hang with Stockfish!! You can't even limit search depth or anything. It is very stable and very pleasing to work with but for my purposes it lacks an essential element in limit strength. This is pr...

Re: Hiarcs 14 and explorer? Help please!

I purchased deep hiarcs 14 with explorer etc over 2 weeks ago, but i cannot get anything out of it, except for a simple game which stops beyond repair, when the clock is out. (Why? was anyone doubting that the machine could beat me in equal timing for moves?) If i set it at longer times, then the m...

Re: Trend by commercial authors!

I have never regretted purchasing Hiarcs as it does have great and different analysis. However, I have yet to purchase the new chess explorer because I am waiting for one feature to be added. Mark always makes great and reliable software. And the Chess Explorer GUI looks awesome but without this on...
