Re: Ktulu's endgame! ... Smarthink question?
Hello Tom, I am not at home and can't test Smarthink, means can't answer of your question to SmarThink. About Ktulu: Ktulu don't support any of the available endgame databases like Nalimov, egbbs. I think in 60-70% of endgames will Ktulu give you a 90% "perfect" result for endgame studies. In other...

Re: ChessBase or ChessAssistant
I don't like Chessbase or ChessOK.
The Shredder GUI serves me just fine as a database.

Re: Your Top Chess engines of the 2000's
I like ... Ktulu (nice endgame), Smarthink (good aggressive middlegame). Ktulu is without tablebases one of the strongest in the World (endgame). Best Frank Is Ktulu 8 or 9 a good engine to analyze endgames with? Is it as good as Shredder (or better?) I love studying endgames and setting up a posit...

Re: Do I really need Naum 4?
Its best to pick a engine that suits your style of play. Anyway over the board chess you dont have rybka saving your behind when playing humans ;) So if you learn to shock a few players with some Junior style moves they have to second guess by telling themselves is this legit or a bluff? The ...

Re: Do I really need Naum 4?
Nah I don't need more then one engine but it is fun and can actually lead to some different move choices when analyszng my games. Deep Junior 2010 came up with a move out of nowhere today when I was doing a post mortem on one of my games. I NEVER would have seen it and none of the other engines reco...

Re: Engines I have lost patience with or become bored with.
Here is the first tournament I ran. This is the order in which they finished: Deep Shredder 12 Kamikaze-Hiarcs Paderborn 2007 MP, Deep Junior 2010, Stockfish 1.5 JA, Zappa Mexico II, and Deep Sjeng WC 2008. It was round robin in the Shredder 12 GUI with ponder off. I was surprised by the result. I t...

Re: Do I really need Naum 4?
I did an extensive testing of Naum 4 and you might find the post I did on rybkaforum interesting although I can warn you that it is quite a long post. http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?pid=136299;hl= Thanks for the link! It was interesting to see how Naum handles the Bishops! I...
