Re: Stockfish-2.2.1 Bench Signature Oddity

I think this is OK. When Stockfish writes a search log, it plays through the PV so it can write it in standard algebraic notation. The do_move operations add to the node count, but SF isn't actually searching more positions.

Search bug? (Stockfish)

I'm trying to debug or explain strange behavior by Stockfish in this position: [D]8/1B6/8/5k2/7P/8/5K2/8 w - - 0 1 SF has code to recognize drawn wrong-rook-pawn endings, and usually gets this right. But in a parallel search, it will sometimes display a huge plus score for a while (depth in the 20s)...

Re: Sting 1.0 beta (based on Stockfish 1.8)

This compile needs MSVCP90D.dll and MSVCR90D.dll. If that's not enough, maybe try recompiling?

Vanilla SF 1.8-ja is was posted here, and the good.net mirror still works. You can see the difference in search.cpp.

I just remembered that SCID sends a FEN rather than move history. That's the problem.

Re: Phantom Draw - test position

OK some of them are perhaps a bit long in the tooth but I was a bit surprised by Fritz 10 failing to annotate the game correctly. They certainly are. Newer Stockfishes, Critter, Komodo, Toga, Spark, even Arasan solve this instantly. If you say the diagram looks funny, maybe the position you showed ...

Minor note: you want to say "score cp #" instead of "score #".

I think it's a reference to this clip, dude.

Re: Sargon III (10mn/move) vs Prédateur (5mn/move)

Well done Sargon III! :) During the whole game, Prédateur searched about 6-7 plies deeper than Sargon. This shows that Sargon's evaluation function and knowledge did more than compensating for those six plies. The conclusion is: time to beaf up Pred's evaluation! ;) That's gotta hurt, time handicap...
