Re: Komodo eaten by Firebird

Not terribly shocking. I have seen many similar posts...in fact I don't think I have ever seen so many 50 game matches reported as I have in the last few months. I guess its a new trend by new posters. Usually its at least 1cpu versus 1 cpu though. Anyway, a couple nitpicks: First, why do you list ...

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

So you base the claim that Firebird is stronger than Rybka on a lead of 2 points after 72 games (at a fast tc)? The very fact that these are so close whereas head to head testing shows clear wins for the Robbo family supports my claim that Robbo's superiority largely vanishes against unrelated engi...

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

If Robbo was reverse engineered (rather than based on improperly obtained code) and then brought to its present level that was a major project. The search seems to have been modified somewhat, in every case to make Robbo faster at some cost in search quality. I believe this was done to get favorabl...

Re: GGT + Rybka wins Swiss, From, Sturm + Firebird leads

Very well done and very interesting.
Firebird still holds his lead of + 20 ELO at longer gametime and people who claimed Firebird(et al) is only well tuned against Rybka, now have one suggestive disapproval argument less.

keep on running please

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

I'm not sure what the percentages you mention refer to. My result was that Rybka 3 matched 58.7% of nearly 10,000 moves while Robbo 9 matched 58.15% at one minute. So Rybka 3 did better, but I called it equal as the difference of about half a percentage point is not highly significant for the sampl...
