How much less than 100% you consider equal ?
More than 95, or 90 or 80 or 70% ?

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

I don't claim that the two programs are the same or even nearly the same, because the derivatives have a simpler but faster evaluation which in timed play will often lead to a different move. These differences favored Firebird in the two games you mention, but based on literally thousands of such c...

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

Well it is very similar to Robbolito. In this game from move 15 to 32 for black (Kasparov), at analysis time 30 sec a move, Robbolito only finds one less Kasparov move than Firebird, namely only on move 28 But still why does these Ippolit-based programs in this analysis test, gave so much different ...

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

Do those three programs generally play the same move with the same score on one core at a set depth, or do they differ substantially and frequently at the same depth? Mr Kaufman, Why dont you respond on reasons for these big differences in analysis moves in the given game Anand - Kasparov between R...

Re: Firebird 1.0 and 1.01: 180 games.

Comparing engine moves to high-class human moves is not without merit, though hardly original. However instead of using one game I regularly use thousands, a total of over 152,000 positions from such games. On this basis Robbolito (several versions) scored the equivalent of about 50 Elo better than...

Usability for Analysis - differences between programs

Usability for Analysis - differences between programs A comparison in analysing a grandmaster game for Rybka and Firebird In an example game Botwinnik – Donner 1- 0 (Wageningen1958) I took a closer look at the measurable differences between Rybka 3 and Firebird 1.0 by the analysing feature in Fritz ...
