Re: Komodo 4 strength

I am going to post my results later but currently Komodo is very close to Houdini 2c 1cpu on my 4GHz i7 980x About 20 ELO less than Houdini 2c in 4min blitz games Seems that I am having much better results than others. In view of that please release MP ASAP ! ;) I am also seeing Komodo64 SSE versio...

Re: Komodo hash question

If you are leaving Komodo to analyze a position for a long time, use as large a hash table as you can without cutting things too close, maybe use half of your memory. For actual play, the faster the time limit, the smaller hash size should be. Unfortunately it's very hard to determine optimum hash s...

Re: Komodo 4 strength

The latest IPON results put Komodo 4 at 21 elo ahead of Komodo 3 after over a thousand games. I'm not surprised that we lose badly to Houdini 2 at game/3', but as the IPON results show the gap narrows sharply with increased time (Ipon uses 5'+3", roughly 8/3 times as much time). I predict very clos...

Re: an STS Tool retouched

I rather like the idea, but I am skeptical that it will produce significantly different results from the current rating lists. Also I don't like that it ignores the opening.

Re: The Real Test for Komodo 4

For me personally the only thing that matters about an engine is the quality of its analysis. Any modern engine will crush almost any human player, there's no need for new engines just to play against. My biggest motivation for Komodo was to create a superior analysis tool. I believe that Komodo pr...

Re: Purchased Komodo 4

We are expecting it to be out sometime this January, but as Don has some health issues we cannot really promise anything for a specific date.

Re: Corrupt CCRL, CEGT, and IPON

For what it's worth, although I strongly disagree with your characterization of these three fine groups as "corrupt", I do agree that one (and only one) Ivanhoe does deserve to be included on the rating lists. I am reasonably sure that it will occupy fourth place (assuming one engine per author, sin...

Komodo 4 32 bit re-compile

We have found the problem with the 32 bit compile of Komodo 4 and have made a corrected version, to be called version 4c2 (for second compile, 32 bit only). This version, while still a bit under half the speed of the 64 bit version, should be comparable in true speed to Komodo 3 32 bit, allowing for...
