Re: Previous World Champion Engine Authors Speak Out...

Cloning has no legal meaning with respect to US copyright law. Yes, that's a real quote, and it shows how desperate the Rybka folks have gotten. Clone is used in chess circles in a different way than in software generally. For instance, Open Office is considered a clone of Microsoft Office, but wit...

Re: I must have been living under a rock

1. Rybka 4.1 was released (I did not find out until today) 2. Fire 1.31 comes with source code (I did not find out until today) 3. The latest gullchess (from the GIT repository NOT from sourceforge) has most of the source code errors corrected. There's not a lot to write home to mom about in that F...

Re: DNS Issue

As a stopgap you could for free and in 30 seconds set up a dyndns domain name: talkchess.dyndns-ip.com. Chk out dyndns.com. I have contacted ICD/Your Move about the domain expiration issue - most of you will know it is solved when you are able to read this message. Thanks, -Sam- With a modification ...

Re: Tracking a cheater (help requested)

I don't think this is evidence of cheating by itself. You could view .. Kh8 perhaps as inviting a draw by repetition, which White could have accepted by also shuttling the Rook. Some strong players also repeat moves (<3 times) because it's an easy move that gives them some extra time to think (and ...

Re: Previous World Champion Engine Authors Speak Out...

The same is happening here, in the Rybka case. Each one of us does have some expectations and each one is biased in a way. The same applies to Hyatt, who is twice as aware of the above, being an academician (I am one, too and know how he can feel). Hyatt is most likely _not_ biased so as not to rec...

Re: Previous World Champion Engine Authors Speak Out...

Even though the threaded reply will appear to be to Mr. Stoker, this is a general reply to the thread. I would be surprised if Mr. Rajlich replies at all to these proceedings. I would be tenfold more surprised if he admits to any violations. The reason is that, as Mr. Speight noted, being found in ...

Re: Previous World Champion Engine Authors Speak Out...

I agree that Hyatt being in the committee seems wrong. Hyatt to me is one of the main accusers, he has systematically gathered, structured and argued for the evidence that Rybka is a Fruit clone. People who have such direct involvement (on any side) cannot be considered "impartial judges". The best...
