Re: Why are the Ippo derivative stronger than Stockfish?

Let's stop. Just stop. I'll go elsewhere. Nothing to see here ... just move along ... He has been call an idiot twice just for expressing his opinion. He mentioned he was not bothered by this and is ready to let it go. I agree with him at least on one point where this thread is going very _non-techi...

Re: Why are the Ippo derivative stronger than Stockfish?

Fair enough. Sounds reasonable to me. Although, I could care less if they call me an idiot. It doesn't bother me a bit. It's just a way to avoid the important technical question: definition of derivative. Without a clear definition such as Hyatt has attempted, there is no defensible basis for claim...

Re: Why are the Ippo derivative stronger than Stockfish?

That is right. This is a technical forum. That is the point. So please waste no more time denouncing all who question your judgment and in this forum once and for all, offer some TECHNICAL criteria for determining a derivative as opposed to an "original". Proffer will you not TECHNICAL criteria for...

Re: Why are the Ippo derivative stronger than Stockfish?

Again, I didn't blame, I suggested giving credit. Robert, I think you've done a good job with Houdini, actually you are the only one that was able to obtain such a big boost out of Ippo. So I have already written and I have no problem to write again that I think you deserve sure credit for the impr...

Re: Why are the Ippo derivative stronger than Stockfish?

I would feel very uncomfortable revealing in public what I have learned from H1.5... Just give appropriate credit in the next Critter release, for example "without ideas obtained by disassembling Houdini 1.5 this Critter version would not nearly have been as strong" . Robert But he said that what h...

Re: Why are the Ippo derivative stronger than Stockfish?

... Anyway you confirm my opinion that Houdini is an optimized/improved Ippo derivative I think it is not appropriate to belittle Robert's contribution. Please keep in mind that there was a lot of people trying to improve upon Ippo, but after Ivanhoe.xx <I do not remember the version number> only R...

Re: David Levy asked for opinions

I have wondered before that if Rybka has to stand up to certain expectations, then why would that not mean Shredder, Hiarcs, Fritz and all the rest would have to do the same. Sorry George but i disagree if someone is accused of something due to a plethora of evidence and then taken to court ..it do...

Re: David Levy asked for opinions

ICGA can set up whatever rules they want. But I'm not sure a tribunal is going to help things. I think a program that would get judged in this way would probably just not participate. Also, I agree there are some difficulties with programs that are closed source. Technically these could have improp...
