Is SF DD greater efficiency would be null move pruning?

I noticed that Stockfish DD is doing one extra ply in efficiency on blitz games (against Houdini 1.5 or Stockfish 4). Would that be called null move or is it something else?

Fair fight with SFDD, H4, and K6

To chess computer community:
Could someone show how the latest in Stockfish DD, Houdini 4, and Komodo 6 are doing. I would like to see the latest and greatest on how they play one another.
Thank you for standings and games posted for 2013,
Jonathan Lee

Re: SSDF Rating List 2013-11-11 (Where is Stockfish 5???)

To Vincent:
Where is the source of your information on Stockfish 5?
I looked at rating lists and search engine AND found nothing about this 50 point improvement over Stockfish 4.

Re: SSDF Rating List 2013-11-11

Thanks for all of the hard work that you do. It is now time to use Stockfish 4 and (Houdini 1.5 or better) in the next update 6 months from now.

Good luck,

20th anniversary of Mephisto Chess Genius 2

On September 17, 1993 Mephisto Genius 2 first came out. 20 years later the word "TACTICS" is a regular word in chess linguistics. I was extremely amazed on small the executable was; just 54,313 bytes. Even compressing it is a waste of memory. I was told this was the first software to act like a ches...

Chessmaster X with Windows 7 and 3 patches

To chess community: How does Chessmaster work with Windows 7? Does the 3 patches go into a specific subdirectory? I am not able to save a rated or non-rated game into the computer. Where are the menus that I am used to be seeing before Windows 7? I like the 10^40 possibilities that Chessmaster has w...

Tactics rating and positional rating of comp. chess software

I am going to say that Houdini 3 has a tactics rating of 3500 ELO and a positional rating of 2800 ELO.

Mephisto Genius 2, 20 years ago, had a grandmaster tactics rating and a 1900 ELO rating for position on slower hardware.

What do you think?

(Pacman versus Human) qualities on endgames

Mephisto Genus had endgame human qualities 20 years ago. Was that the first one? Stockfish plays like Pacman capturing fifteen pieces and pawns and then goes after the king. I know this may be insigificant, but I prefer the highest efficiency as in the fewest number of moves possible to win the game...

Houdini 3 vs. (pre-Rbyka) on software

To chess testers: I would like to know what is the score (let's say 50 games on game in 10 minutes) from Houdini 3 versus one of the highest software in the year 2005 under the same hardware. How does Houdini 3 punish it's predecessors into pieces? I wish to see statistics on about four major quantu...
