Re: Scorpio 2.8.7 MCTS+NN windows version

Daniel, just for your information, the Linux version crashes immediately (memory access fault) if I don't set "use_nn" to 0 in the ini file. ./scorpio go quit feature done=0 ht 4194304 X 16 = 64.0 MB eht 524288 X 8 = 8.0 MB pht 32768 X 24 = 0.8 MB treeht 26843136 X 40 = 1024.0 MB processors [3] Egb...

Re: Chess.com 2018 computer chess championship

They need to implement tablebase adjudication for this tournament to cut down o the number of times we end up watching engines messing about for 100+ moves of pointless crap. It works perfectly fine for TCEC. I don't see why CCCC couldn't do it as well. At least 6 man if not 7 man adjudication. It ...

Re: Leela (lack of) endgame technique?

Hi all, What's up with leela's seemingly inability to win endgames? At CCCC it outplayed komodo in the middle game but didn't manage to convert what K evaluated as "clear win". I know NN have trouble selecting moves when many lines seem to win, but it should at least choose actually winning moves :...

Re: Simple questions about Nullmove

Hello, I'm currently fiddling around with my nullmove pruning. The usual pseudo code gives a search window of [-beta, -beta+1]. And if eval > beta, cut-off. (f.e. here: http://mediocrechess.blogspot.com/2007/01/guide-null-moves.html). If I understand correctly, the eval return is always between bet...

Re: Lc0 v0.17.0-rc1 egt test

Run Lco on ending test positions, 4 and 5 men. There is improvement in using syzygy, but overall it seems it is still too low considering that it is already using egt and the test has only 1 best move, if it is a draw all other moves loses and if it is a win all other moves would just draw or lose....

Re: SF groaned and moaned to find a mate in 10 on a sparse board.

Takes SF 64 plies to find this mate in 10. About four and a half minutes with 11 threads. Of course, due to SMP variance, I would expect other solution times to differ a lot. Re: TCEC should reconsider the ban on Ethereal

I don't know anything about what happened but I'm guessing that Knight_Moves was the one trying to ban Andrew Grant because this morning when I go to the TCEC website I'm confronted with the crappy old GUI. Knight_Moves is obviously protesting against his decision being overturned by leaving and ta...

Re: Stockfish's Asymmetric Evaluations

If you are analyzing rather than game playing, make sure that you set the contempt to zero. There is a built in offset for the side to move, otherwise. Please note, even if you do this, you only deactivate static contempt. Dynamic contempt (based upon the current best score) will still get applied ...
