Re: AlphaZero vs. the human brain

As a remark, my est. 100 NPS for the huamn brain are just an upper bound, in
practice it may be one or two orders of magnitude slower, cos some neurons are
clocked with only 10 Hertz, and the network is layered...

Re: AlphaZero vs. the human brain

Maybe these numbers show us the way to go, less nps but bigger, really big, neural networks? Bigger isn't always better ( link ). I have no present numbers, but iirc, the policy head of LC0 alone on a depth 1 search made already about 2400 Elo. And the smaller NNs sizes of LC0 for CPUs are easily o...

AlphaZero vs. the human brain

I think it is interesting to point out that Deepminds AlphaZero used only about 50 million weights to play chess on a super-human level. Contrary the human brain consists of about 100 billion neurons, each neuron has about 1000 connections to other neurons, so 100 trillion 'weights' in total. Of cou...

Re: Rumored Threadripper pricing

Wish to add that AMD spin off its fabs to GlobalFoundries in 2009, so they are free to choose a manufacturer.

Both, AMD and Intel did not enter the ARM mobile chips market, and by numbers, these are the ones who drive the new fabrication processes.

Re: "Fat fritz" stronger than Stockfish ?

Any chance of Fat Fritz being sold as a standalone Program in the near future ? According to Amazon in Germany Fritz 17 will ship on 12. November and will 'include' Fat Fritz. https://www.amazon.de/Fritz-17-ganz-große-Schachprogramm/dp/3866817282/ If that means that ChessBase will 'ship' Fat Fritz ...

Re: ICGA - Rybka<>Fruit, Shredder, Komodo, Chiron

Okay, one more time... you present me this No way. I am just jabbering away into the void. Sometimes the void replies and sometimes not. When it does, usually tangentially, and usually with the original meaning utterly distorted and turned into something else. like I am a member of a jury, but I am...

Re: ICGA - Rybka<>Fruit, Shredder, Komodo, Chiron

Okay, one more time... you present me this like I am a member of a jury, but I am not, and here is no trial going on, we have here no trials for this. The CCC has not sentenced Vas, it can't. If members of the CCC used to 'burn witches' in the public times ago, then that may be the reason that EO wa...
