Re: Xiangqi piece value model

This seems reasonable, but there is a snag: if my Horse is now more valuable than yours, I should avoid trading it (which is correct). This depresses the value. It's not yet clear to me if this needs to be incorporated explicitly (probably you can just absorb this term in the tabulated piece values...

Re: Unsigned right shift operator in Swift?

Thanks a lot Muller and all other people!

Both ways can be coded in Swift. I prefer to the first one (using mask).

Unsigned right shift operator in Swift?

I have been coding my chess app in Swift and want to implement a random function with a code modified from Java one. That function uses some unsigned right shift operators (>>>) and I don't know how to implement it correctly in Swift. My function works mainly with long (Int64) and speed is not a big...

Re: Best chess piece images

Btw. do you know any TTF fonts for Makruk/Ouk/Sittuyin? Sorry I don't know any and I guess you are hard to find one since they are not popular chess variants. You should become the first one to release those fonts ;) Do you have any good tools (and skills to use) such as Photoshop? You can do yours...

Re: Best chess piece images

First I want to know a guernica solution for chess board and pieces. Many users might not like it. But it can't be worse than what I have now. Also don't know what would be the width of the border of chess board or the width of the border of a square (should it be always zero). Or the sizes of the ...

Re: Best chess piece images

But what are the best chess images you have seen. Just to get some inspiration for I have to modify them anyhow. Do you build your chess for your use only or for other people? There is not the best piece image set nor board colours if your chess app is for multi people. Build some sets and let user...

Re: XBoard for Mac: How to run Xiangqi?

Just change the draw results in pgn file from "1/2-1/2" to "0.5-0.5". Look like XBoard does not understand :(

Re: XBoard for Mac: How to run Xiangqi?

Thanks again for the new upload. It works well :D Resizing (both zooming in/out) does not help. To clarify: it still displays well for many moves but sometimes wrongly as my attached images. If I copy / paste only one game into the app, look like it displays well (for all moves). But if I open a pgn...

Re: XBoard for Mac: How to run Xiangqi?

Few screenshots after I open a pgn file of multi games and manually review moves. I have tried to restart XBoardXq and my computer few times but still see the same problem. http://i.imgur.com/Obfcg8L.png http://i.imgur.com/2RKeeNs.png http://i.imgur.com/dnsoid6.png http://i.imgur.com/bnkBZRp.png

Re: XBoard for Mac: How to run Xiangqi?

Yeah as HGM said, the engine dictates to xboard what games can be played, and the default engine which loads on startup "fairymax" doesn't play xiangqi. You would defiantly enjoy the the Xq version of the app. It's on the download thread, first post scroll down. :) but here is the link http://www.m...
