Re: Stockfish entombs a bishop

i dont understand why engines dont immediately think to move Bxg5 & stick w/ it, but both houdini & SF require some depth to see it is inferior. maybe one of the authors can explain it. If Black plays ...Bxg5, then the h-pawn, still on h7, would be backward and weak after White's hxg5. CL Yes, and ...

Re: Stockfish entombs a bishop

Here's a position from a 15 minute game played by a IM Chessexplained on ICC. He's analyzing after the game with Stockfish. At 32:45 he points out that Stockfish's choice of move for the position, 17..h5 for black, is obviously bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIkhZInjkbE http://i57.tinypic.com/...

Re: bout this app" page says "Chess engine develop

I already have a app that lets me dumb down the computers play. I will play stockfish against the Magnus computer. To see if I can win a chance to play the real Magnus. :) Hehe, sounds dirty. ;) BTW, the "About This App" page says : "Chess engine developed by Tord Romstad." ;) 7-years old Magnus ju...

hgm wrote:Yes, and you can dream that it actually is a World Championship Chess!
Well, every body is free to claim a "champion" as his own criteria. The poll shows the diversity of opinion. The problem is when some author claim HIS engine is the WCCC. (As it was with Komodo).

Re: What engine is World computer chess champion?

I thought about this for a bit, and recalled some interesting factoids. (1) best tennis player on the planet is named "#1 rank in world" by virtue of being on top of the professional tennis player rankings, which is based on all games played, not just one tournament. (2) best golfer in the world is...

Re: Grailmaster 1.0

Curious as to what engine 7 people voted "Other"? If it's not a TCEC, ICGA or rating list topper? Are there even stronger engines that no-one knows about? And what claim do these "other" have for WCCC? Is there some secret competition we don't know about? It is just the lack of an "undisput...

Re: What engine is World computer chess champion?

What engine do YOU consider as World Computer Chess Champion? The poll is to know what you consider a WCCC besides if there is an official designation. I still vote for none (if other means other option then it covers it, if it means another tournament, no). I will check other. Miguel There is not ...

Re: World Chess Computer Champion?

The way the Komodo team have been bullied into changing their website is yet another shameful episode in computer chess. They had every right to proclaim themselves as World Champions. That was not misleading. Yes it was a shame, as when someone corrects you a typo and misses the message content. S...

Re: World Chess Computer Champion?

Are you implying competition in the Tour de France is not fair? The TdF is usually also broadcasted live... I don't think you have a point. The TdF is just as fair or unfair as the UCI World Championship. It carries far more prestige. And no winner of the TdF ever proclaimed himself World Champion....
