Re: Rybka 4 beaten blindfold by neurosurgeon
Wow,Lumberjack was love slaved by Bigfoot....Wow,wasn't aware of this  Dr.D
well you might be cynical about it, and indeed it is likely that there is a show element in these achievements of Slyusarchuk as he is trying to attract funding for his research, a/o in ...

Re: Rybka 4 beaten blindfold by neurosurgeon

well i wouldnt judge so quickly (that it is a trick or a fraud); although rare , some savants exist (like 'brainman' Tammet ) or have existed, usually autistic; and such people when recalling things from memory or as 'calculation' result said they just 'saw' the result in their head. Interesting is ...

Re: Are chessprogrammers jealaous ?
.. the answer to your question is yes. Simple theory would tell you that there are an infinite number of ways to syntactically represent the same semantic behaviour. And even if we quibble about the "infinite" word, you could replace that by "large" and still be standing on pretty soli...

Re: Are chessprogrammers jealaous ?

a few additional comments:
ok thx for the reply; yes i see the problem, and i like to go beyond arguments about programmer competence, but enter into software legality, its still about intellectual property rights, {snip..} So the discussion seems to be going in this black&white direc...

Re: Are chessprogrammers jealaous ?
jef >PS how's it in the Stockfish case ? Isnt that one built one Glaurung or so ?
The problem is complex. If Ivanhoe had come directly from Fruit, there would be no problem with Ivanhoe regarding the GPL assuming they release all source changes. [end quote] ok thx for the reply...

Re: Are chessprogrammers jealaous ?
You do not seem to have a handle on what the actual issue is. A lot of people here are incensed at the idea that Vas took an open source program and used it for commercial profit and it saddens me that you condone this in the name of "progress." I am highly in favor of such open source...

Re: Are chessprogrammers jealaous ?
I doubt anyone can explain the entire program, from parallel search to endpoint evaluation... and know what is done where... and how... and most importantly, why...
well i certainly don't and i admit it; but it's something else in the open source (GPL) world i guess; letting F...

Re: Crafty-23.3 very slow

23.3 crafty slow(er) ? well i found some other compilations of the 23.3 version, namely on the site of Jim Ablett's winboard projects, havent looked at the nps though; while it indeed seems to run a bit slower than the 23.2 version, i find the evaluation function much better and as result have inclu...
