Re: Barbarossa-0.4.0 - I stopped my test !!!

The windows compiles have problems! I did it under Win 10, and could not test under Win 7 until now.

Take a look at CCRL 40/4, which runs under linux. The new version is ~120 Elo better.

I stil had not possibility to see what is wrong with the windows compiles until now.

Re: If machines can beat us at games, does it make them more

Beside this, we do not really understand what processes in the human brain are responsible for example for the spatial "orientation" which makes possible to see "immediately" that the white king can go through A4 to victory. Maybe that processes are a lot more "brute force" than searching a few mill...

Re: If machines can beat us at games, does it make them more

This one was really good! Barbarossa did not find the correct plan after 20 plys and I was disappointed. Then I decided suddenly to inactivate null move search when side to move has no piece (I wanted to do it long before and never came to it). Et voila! Up to ply 16 everything normal, but at ply 17...

Re: Mac OS X compilers for Haskell and C++11 chess programs

Hi Norbert,

For Barbarossa please see the building instructions:

https://github.com/nionita/Barbarossa/b ... UILDING.md

Mac OS X stack can be found here:

https://haskell-lang.org/get-started

The rest should go straight, but I have no experience on Mac.

Re: Barbarossa-0.4.0 release

Nicu - could you please see whether or not Barbarossa runs as expected under ChessGUI. If not, I could email you some debug files. I'm getting disastrous results in my ChessGUI gauntlets. Hi Graham, I run all tests with cutechess-cli and with Chessbase Gui, I had no problems. Can you please mail me...

Barbarossa-0.4.0 release

Hallo everybody, I just released the version 0.4.0 of my engine Barbarossa: https://github.com/nionita/Barbarossa/releases The engine is completely written in Haskell. This version is about 175 ELO stronger than the last released version, 0.3.0 (in self-play). The precompiled binaries are for Window...

Re: Absolute ELO scale

Is there any theoretical problem if we define ELO 0 = play strenght of an engine which plays in every (legal) position one of the legal moves following a random uniform probability distribution? This is a logical way to define things. There is the practical problem, however, that almost anything th...
