Re: Stockfish has included WDL stats in engine output

> Fishtest has 400cp adjudication, so any game reaching it for a few plies get marked as a win, though in some instance playing on it would end in a draw. No. The graph in Fishest was approaching 1 as the x-axis goes to 400. This is not the same as the C++ code. > You got the (cp, ply) -> wdl functi...

Re: Stockfish has included WDL stats in engine output

If I was to add it analysis, I may just drop the ply parameter, and just hard-code it to 10. It looks like at 10, a knight advantage is about 75% winning. I like it to be 75% winning for a piece up.

Re: Stockfish has included WDL stats in engine output

I would like to add WDL for chess analysis, because it's a such better statistics than unscaled scores. But my concerns: It doesn't look like fitting Fishtest properly??? Probability goes up as ply rises. This is bad, because in many practical endgames such as the common rook endgames the winning ch...

Re: Stockfish has included WDL stats in engine output

Thanks. I think probability of winning is a good measure for chess reporting, and is in fact better than "cp": cp is a programming concept not for chess analysis cp is heavily implementation dependent Reporting probability from fitting a sigmoid curve is a nice way to normalize the conflicts. I atta...

Re: Stockfish has included WDL stats in engine output

Probably asked somewhere else, but I can't find it. What's the impact of using ply in the calculation? The problem here is we don't have such information if we start from a non-initial position.

Recommendation on Javascript parsing chess PGN?

What would be the best solution for parsing a chess PGN by Javascript? The parser will need to support nested variations and comments. The popular chess.js library doesn't seem to offer nested variations or comments.

Re: benchmark new smartphones:

Maybe. Chess Studio uses exactly the same source as the Stockfish app. They are identical at the source level (under the UI). Not just the engine itself, PGN parsing, pieces animation. Everything.

Re: benchmark new smartphones:

Do we have some data for the newly released iPhone Pro 11 ? Rgds It's sad that iphone benchmarks (as great as they are) are irrelevant since stockfish is using a very old engine. I wish it was some way we can port the latest stockfish 10 or asmfish into stockfish. There is no other app in ios that ...

Re: benchmark new smartphones:

On the mobile platform, running at a single core is almost always better than running at all cores, because of battery problems. Yes, neither of the app mentioned runs at all cores.

I will get an iPhone 11 myself, so I may give it a try.

Re: program to generare epd file of tactical exercises from pgn

There is no easy way to define a "complicated" position. Ferdy's approach was reasonable, but it would fail to flagging super-precise unrealistic computer moves as tactical exercises. This is not a problem that can be addressed satisfactory by chess engines evaluation alone. We have a literature pap...
