Re: benchmark new smartphones:
Maybe. Chess Studio uses exactly the same source as the Stockfish app. They are identical at the source level (under the UI). Not just the engine itself, PGN parsing, pieces animation. Everything.

Re: benchmark new smartphones:
Do we have some data for the newly released iPhone Pro 11 ? Rgds It's sad that iphone benchmarks (as great as they are) are irrelevant since stockfish is using a very old engine. I wish it was some way we can port the latest stockfish 10 or asmfish into stockfish. There is no other app in ios that ...

Re: benchmark new smartphones:
On the mobile platform, running at a single core is almost always better than running at all cores, because of battery problems. Yes, neither of the app mentioned runs at all cores.
I will get an iPhone 11 myself, so I may give it a try.

Re: program to generare epd file of tactical exercises from pgn
There is no easy way to define a "complicated" position. Ferdy's approach was reasonable, but it would fail to flagging super-precise unrealistic computer moves as tactical exercises. This is not a problem that can be addressed satisfactory by chess engines evaluation alone. We have a literature pap...

Re: program to generare epd file of tactical exercises from pgn
Do we know how pages like lichess come up with their tactical exercices. I enjoy doing them quite a bit https://github.com/vitogit/lichess-tactics-generator Lichess simply compare two consecutive moves. If both players miss an important move according to a computer, it'd be flagged as a tactical ex...

Re: Stockfish 9 on iOS ?
Thanks, this is exactly what I wanted ! I wonder how fast/strong it will be on the iPad Pro 11 !? SF 9 on the new iPad Pro will be *far* stronger than any human on the planet, that's for sure. Here are some comparisons of the A12X cpu to other commonly used CPUs: https://bgr.com/2018/11/01/new-ipad...

Re: Stockfish 9 on iOS ?
Thanks to Michael, there is indeed SF 9 on https://github.com/official-stockfish/S ... ssues/1383. It's working on my phone, but it probably doesn't support iPad Pro and the newer iPhones.
Should we publish it to the App Store?

Re: 7-men Syzygy attempt
How did people here download the files so quickly? http://tablebase.lichess.ovh/tables/standard/7 gave about 5MB per second speed, which would mean about 40 download days.

Re: 7-men Syzygy attempt
Apart from (ftp://ftp.chessdb.cn/pub/syzygy/7men), where else we can download the 17TB data? The chessDB site is too slow.
