Re: Komodo 13 released

Guys, just a quick question: Does Komodo MCTS make any use of Hash option or it only uses MCTS Hash option? I want to increase MCTS Hash value but then I have to decrease Hash value. So I wonder if decreasing normal Hash has any impact on analysis.

Re: How to equalize in 6.h3 Sicilian Najdorf (Adams Attack)?

6. .. e6 7. g4 h6 has been tried by quite a few strong players and looks pretty reliable, although this is actually a transposition to the Keres Attack (B81), which Black should generally avoid. Usually White goes 8. Be3. One example of this line: Hmm... I'd say it's more in Najdorf spirirt rather ...

Re: How to equalize in 6.h3 Sicilian Najdorf (Adams Attack)?

Thx for your input, guys. If your goal is simply to get SF (without contempt) to say 0.00 rather than having an easy position to play, then we can start from the following position (unless you think white should do something else) 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. h3 e5 7. Nde2 ...

How to equalize in 6.h3 Sicilian Najdorf (Adams Attack)?

So here's the position: rnbqkb1r/1p2pppp/p2p1n2/8/3NP3/2N4P/PPP2PP1/R1BQKB1R b KQkq - 0 6 It seems that this tiny 6.h3 move is the critical line of Najdorf. No wonder that it is very popular among top GMs these days. So I tried to equalize as black - of course with help of Stockfish - and couldn't f...

Re: Komodo 12.3 is out

Hi Larry, why MCTS search in Komodo is non-determinicstic despite using 1 thread only? I see some randomness during the search. Each run gives slightly different output. For example Leela's search is deterministic on single thread. Here is Komodo 12.3 on 1 CPU in starting position: First run: 0.02:...

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

Thanks. BTW, what's the relation between depth and number of threads? Is depth 55 on 20CPU deeper than depth 59 on 1CPU? I've never understood paralell search in SF.

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

And here is latest Stockfish after 82 hours on 1CPU. I had to abort the search. r1bq1rk1/pppp1ppp/2n2n2/8/3BP3/2N5/PPP2PPP/R2QKB1R w KQ - 1 8 82:29.13 8.Be2 (głębokość 59, 1/40), 423,9G pozycji (1,4M na sekundę), 2,6M końcówek 0.00: +1.36/3 8.e5 Nxd4 9.Qxd4 0.00: +2.39/4 8.e5 b6 9.exf6 Nxd4 10.Qxd4 ...

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

So now i't trying to find absolute best move in the following position: r1bq1rk1/pppp1ppp/2n2n2/8/3BP3/2N5/PPP2PPP/R2QKB1R w KQ - 1 8 I think there are two serious moves: Be2 and Bxf6. I'm running analysis on my machine with latest Stockfish dev (1CPU, 4096MB hash, Analysis Contempt: Off) and after ...
