Re: LC0 0.16

One thing I really don't like in 0.16 is its output. In 0.10 the output of search goes from depth to depth whereas in 0.16 (blas) - from seldepth to seldepth, which is annoyng cause I cant't see in my GUI what's going on during analysis.

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

I think the whole Rubinstein variation is dubious. Black should just not play .. dxe4 at all. But if you are going to do that then 3. .. Nd7 is better than 3. .. Nf6. Your line seems playable, but correspondence players prefer 10 .. Nd7, for example: [Event "GER AM02-A email"] [Site "GER email"] [D...

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

Guys, you probably already noticed that what I'm trying to do is to dismantle the most critical variation of French Rubinstein: 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 2.Nc3 dxe4 3.Nxe4 Nd7 4.Nf3 Ngf6 6.Nxf6+ Nxf6 7.c3 c5 8.Ne5 a6 9.Be3 Qc7 10.Qa4+. And so far 10...Nd7 is the main line. 10...Bd7 was played in few games but...

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

OK, so here's the position. Black to move. After moving pieces and looking at evaluations I came to the conclusion that 10...Bd7 is objectively stronger than 10...Nd7. Now I want to - kind of - prove it and check if the engine (probably latest Stocky) will find 10...Bd7 in a single run. This requir...

Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

Looks to me like white is probably a little better. But it is certainly playable, at any rate. Current SF prefers Nd7. Sometimes, it is a good idea to force the move you want and then analyze. Re: Online chess engines on powerul machines - what are the options?

Only 36 plies. Any position that has been played a lot, I have already analyzed. 36 is my rock bottom depth. If it is a position I am interested in, I usually go to 40 or more now. Then engine (probably stockfish but it could be Komodo or Houdini) favored Bd7 also, but gave an advantage of about 1/...

Thanks Dann, what was the final depth and final eval? I'm pretty stunned...
