A nice feature I recently found in Clang compiler; it advises you when an expression is kind of ambiguous and suggests the use of parenthesis.

As commented on other posts, at ply 3 the first checks occur, so probably you are not handling properly how to run out of them, and therefore creating extra moves for ply 4.
Besides divide, you can try testing a couple of positions where the side to move is in check.

I miss an "Others" option. All in all I've clicked on Gentoo because Sabayon is based on it.
So far Sabayon is the most reliable rolling release distro I've tested so far.
