Plagiarism

http://www.webster.edu/students/plagiarism/what_is_plagiarism.shtml What is plagiarism? Re: ProDeo 1.73, but have a little problem!

http://members.home.nl/matador/faq.htm When you are playing eng-eng matches or auto232 make sure you limit the maximum number of moves else PRO DEO might play funny moves or worse crash. For ChessBase this means: Move Limit = 240 For LokaSoft: Max Moves in Game = 160 ----------------- I will try to...

Re: The near future of computer chess

Hi Don, Ok, I apologize for being so harsh. In reality I do have a high opinion of you and I do respect you for you accomplishments and openess. I just get carried away at times. Apologies accepted, please accept mine in return. I hope to submit something substantial tomorrow, had no time the last f...

Re: WCCC 2011 - Junior is the 2011 World Champion

But most "authors" want a fair competition without clones/derivatives, where everyone writes their own program and then we compete head-to-head with each other on as level a playing field as we can define... This position is not an obvious majority opinion anymore from the tri-ennial ICGA meeting t...

Re: The near future of computer chess

Well, that is what I mean. Of course I would not enter the 100 engines under my own name. I have many nephews... One phone call, a couple of technical questions will do. Look... this kind of things are not the problem. Chess programmers are usually not the dumbest people on the planet, there...

Re: The near future of computer chess

Has anyone combed through Ed's software? It makes one wonder. I don't know what is up with Ed, but his program is clearly original and he is a brilliant and hard working programmer. I guess he just thinks there is a new generation of programmer who shouldn't have to be bothered with originality or ...

Re: The near future of computer chess

There is no hypocrisy, you are continuing to propagate the unfair and yes, dishonest, straw-man argument that if you use any idea that is in another program then you are plagiarizing . It's sickening how often people just keep going back to that since there is no other way to make their ridiculous ...

Re: The near future of computer chess

If, as you say, the "new generation" of chess programmers want to participate with copies of the same source, with minor tweaks, eventually, they will become the majority and control the tournament rules. I offered 2 brainstorm ideas to cover that. Subject: Ippolit and related freeware source code....

Re: The near future of computer chess

3. You should take a look at youtube. You find everything. The music and movie industry are helpless. They have given up on youtube long time ago defeated by volume. These are the days of internet, it has come with new realities. You sound like it is OK to steal things. It is not. You can request c...
