Re: Fat Fritz 2

A.Silver said, that the github net is weaker. And it is obvious, that this must be true. If not, nobody needed to buy FF2, so it would be crazy, if Chessbase would provide the strong commercial net on github for free. hmm.. That would be just as crazy as selling a chess-enginge including network th...

Re: FF2 verses SF, what are the important differences?

"Fat Fritz 2 is trained and developed using this NNUE technology, running inside the open source Stockfish binary, but with a completely new and different neural network that differs significantly from Stockfish's on a couple of key points: The first is that the evaluations and positions did not co...

Re: Fat Fritz 2

No. Only the commercial version of FF2 has the strong FF2 net. The ratinglists (CEGT, CCRL and me (SPCC)) got this version for testing. The net, which can be downloaded on the FF2-github website is weaker. Of course. Otherwise nobody would buy FF2 anymore. On what test have you confirmed it is "wea...

Re: Fat Fritz 2

I looked into both nets with a HEX-editor and they are definitly different! How did you do that? The official release has no separate net, it's embedded. There is an updated version of FF2 (called update1) (source code on github), where the net is a separate file. Because the first release with the...

Re: Calling All Armchair GPL Lawyers

4) Yes, and they also need to clearly state that it is a stockfish derivate A.Silver told me, that the FF2 Binary is Stockfish 210111. Only changes are the modifications, which are needed to use the bigger FF2-nnue net. Since the update1 the Contempt was set to 24, again, which is default of all St...

Re: Fat Fritz 2

Personally, since the source and net have been published, I am somewhat neutral about it. Are you sure the net provided at the 11th of Feb 2021 at Github is the same net they sell? I would not put any money on it. And, apart from all the legal stuff discussion, Chessbase is selling nothing but a «M...

Re: SPCC: Testrun of Fat Fritz 2 finished

Here the single results of FF2 and Stockfish 210131 (latest SF DEV testrun in my ratinglist). Same conditions, same opponents, both with Contempt=+24. Because FF2 uses a net with double size of normal SF nnue-nets, the nps of FF2 are somewhat lower. On my AMD Ryzen 12core CPU I got these nps for the...
