Re: chess logos by Dusan Stamenkovic

There is a deeper link to http://kirr.homeunix.org , where also program components of SMIRF could be found. This is very strange. Has there been any permitting to have a SMIRF version provided there for download? Of course SMIRF is a kind of donation-ware, but that does not imply any right for hosti...

Re: Shocked !

to Ruxy: thank you for showing those impressive Theatre and Opera pictures. I hope that a lot of your citizens are able to make much use of it and of the culture presented inside of them. There has been a question on the GC button at the SMIRF GUI, which remains disabled within the free version. The...

Re: New Smirf versions

Hello Jim, the main intention which made me write SMIRF and its GUI has been, to have a Chess960 and 10x8 variant aware system. And there has been Ed Trice with his Gothic Chess approach, aiming to promote his idea by starting an appropriate computer chess event. Thus it is very important to present...

Re: New Smirf versions

Now there is an updated bonus engine MS-178h, which no longer needs some uncommon MS DLLs and might be a little bit faster than the MS-178f version. Thank you for giving SMIRF a lot of your time. I am surprised on the reported success over Beowulf 2.4a, which might have been a lucky exception. PS: D...

Re: A real delight !

Thank you for giving some time to the SMIRF-32 GUI + engine. SMIRF is still my first written playing multi chess environment. Thus it is naturally weak. So it does not make sense to start a serious improving of this old approach. A completely new written successor would do, but there no longer seems...

Non-Hi-End SMIRF 8x8 and 10x8 GUI + Engine 178e

The 64 Bit engine remains private. But the 32 Bit release still could be found at:

Re: Perft(15) estimates thread.

Based on my old calculating scheme - but still ignoring the latest Perft(14) result - here is my estimate:

Perft(15) ≈ 2.01533e21

Re: Perft(14) estimates thread.

There could be a further refinement, I found:

Perft(14) ≈ 6.18986e+19

Re: Perft(14) estimates thread.

Well, let me give a more recent estimation for Perft(14) actually based on an inverse interpolation now including Perft(13):

Perft(14) ≈ 6.18997E+19
