Sorry, probably not. There still is a lot to do for me concerning pieces having more traditional gaits .

Re: pre-announcement: 10x8 tourney

For some reasons and e.g. maybe to get some testing results of other 10x8 activists I have decided to publish again an actual donationware version of the SMIRF GUI and its engine BC-176f-2 which also may by used by Winboard-F in combination to HGM's smirfoglot adapter. Re: pre-announcement: 10x8 tourney

No progress with your Octopus project, yet? SMIRF is outdated, nevertheless I am trying to extinguish some bad properties there. In general my motivation to do chess programming has been violated severely. Thus my investigations in chess programming have been downgraded massivly and mostly are focu...

Re: pre-announcement: 10x8 tourney

Well, H.G., so I will try to reinspect my 10x8 Smirf.
But I am not sure, whether its strength could increase.
This initial engine of mine is based on outdated concepts.

Re: Fastest perft - made comparable

When Perft has to be a tool for to test several qualities of a move generator, it should not only count leafs, but also provide relevant local information. Because speed is not the only intension of writing a move generator. See an old posting of mine: http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?to...

Re: Perft(13) & (14)

Hi Sven, ... actually it seems that the perft(13) estimate in your table is "almost independent" from that number "-2587,643803". Nearly always I get a result of approximately 1,98E+18 regardless whether I change that "-2587,..." number into -1000, +1000000000, or to -33333. The differences seem to ...

Re: Perft(13) & (14)

Hi Sven, ... just curious: how did you come to the conclusion that the value "-2587,643803" for n=12 in the rightmost column of your second table (for even levels) could be seen as "constant" so that you could assume it as a base for all remaining calculations with n>12 ? Well, this is not a constan...

Re: Perft(13) & (14)

... Almost a month ago, Reinhard Scharnagl did estimates using inverse interpolation and the output of the results is similar to yours. ... The idea of my calculation using inverse interpolation has been based upon: a) switching to the natural logarithm, because Perft seems to me mainly a growth fu...

Re: PGN standard & null moves (Steven?)

"0000" may conflict to bad written castling moves, "null", "pass" or "@@@@" does not look like a regular move. I would suggest to have the (always existing) King move from his field to his field, thus changing nothing. Because of different encoding of castlings there would not be a conflict. Neverth...
