Testing with generic opening books doesn't mean that you are testing the'"pure" engine's strength,you are actualy testing the different opening books.... Perhaps Ted you could email FIDE to ask them. From posts on the rybka forum/here I got the impression that :- - FIDE made some kind of acknowledgement to Vas - A Chessbase sysop said that Vas should concentrate on the chess (freestyle) not writing open letters. Good Question, and I am glad you brought it up. What did you think of Shredder's games at ICGA. Did you feel that Shredder play was much improved. I also wonder if SMK has done upgrades to the GUI as well. I would love to see FICS support in the Shredder interface. :D
