Re: any UCI pure brute-force engines?

I tried it with my new idea (Sting-sf-48, hash 1024M, dual core) without some dirty "Monte Carlo" or "rule50" or "nullMove search disabled" or "tablebases". (time 5 second!) [d]8/1pN4r/5pkp/8/5K1p/2P4N/P3Bn2/8 w - - bm Bh5+; info depth 18 seldepth 27 multipv 1 score cp -113 nodes 2105001 nps 443158...

Re: any UCI pure brute-force engines?

[D]8/1pN4r/5pkp/8/5K1p/2P4N/P3Bn2/8 w - -[/D] Bh5+ wins. None of top engines could solve it. I guess that search techniques like null_move_pruning or futility_pruning are responsible for that blindness. Is pure brute_force the only chance to solve it? And if so, what UCI compatibile engine could yo...

Re: Which move is better and why ?

Thanks for those analysis people. I know this is not a good test position as i said it's little bit silly however but Artista showed +0.43 for white both of Nc7 and Nd7. Na6 is +0.40. When score not changed after deep searching i wanted to ask this question. Stockfish evaluated differently those mov...

Which move is better and why ?

I know this is a really silly question but since i started to improve my engine at openings i am trying to improve closed positions evaluation like KID or benoni so in this position Artista has no clue which move is better. Can someone analyze this position and can explain to me why it is better tha...

Re: The short story of a long castling

OK, the only black move that will still allow to play f5 after Rae1 is Rae8, and I am inclined to play it without even checking any tactics. What has actually changed after Rae1 and Rae8? So, we have Rae1 Rae8 g4 f5 [d]4rr2/3qp1bk/1pp1b1pp/p1p1Pp2/P4PPN/1P1P3P/1BP1Q3/4RRK1 w - f6 0 3 and I claim th...

Artista (<3), Texel, Rhetoric, Rodent. Simple. Beautiful.

Re: The short story of a long castling

Just very brief remarks on the 25th game of the TCEC final. [d]r3k2r/2q1ppb1/1pp3pp/p1p1Pb2/P7/1P1P1N1P/1BP1QPP1/R3K2R b KQkq - 0 1 Here Komodo castles with black long 15...0-0-0. The opening is perfectly equal, and black could have retained a balanced game after the much more natural 0-0. For exam...

Artista follows b3 Qc7 Ne4 Qb6 Nf6+ Bxf6 exf6 Rbc8 Bd6 Rfe8 Qd2 Nxf6 Qf4 Qd8 Bxc5 Qg5 bxc4 bxc4 e4 dxe4 Nxe4 Qxd8 Nxd8. b3 is also a reasonable move, one of the good strategic ones, but I am not certain how fully justified the following sequence tactically is. For example, playing Qc7 with the quee...

[d]r5rk/pp1b1p2/2q2P1B/2bpP3/2pP2p1/PnP3P1/1P5P/1R1QNR1K w - - 1 24 This is from just finished 13th game of TCEC final. Before SF sacrificed Bg4, Komodo could have retained significant advantage if on either one of the 2 previous moves had played Rg8, but it did not. Now, after Komodo's Qe6 and Nb3...
