Re: strenght of Houdini 3 at chess960

Two more results: vs Shredder 12: 90.0 - 10.0 vs Chiron 1.1a: 93.0 - 7.0 Last two matches are against Hiarcs 13.2 and Spike 1.4, and they are even worse. I normally try to limit opponents to +/- 300 Elo, maybe a little bigger. So ordinarily these matches would not be played or included. However to e...

Re: Any conflict

For engine matches, I found that with Scorpio bases there was a delay of several seconds while they loaded into memory, and the GUI's engine clock was ticking while that was happening. So not a good idea for blitz matches. (Perhaps this is GUI dependent). So I don't use them.

Re: For Analysis- only Nalimov/Gaviota

But you may not get to choose. Whichever UCI option the GUI sends to the engine last, is what is used (if I interpret Robert correctly). Re: strenght of Houdini 3 at chess960

There is only one way to describe Houdini 3's chess960 matches - massacres. The way it is demolishing some of these opponents is just incredible. It is a struggle to get strong enough opponents for it...

Re: strenght of Houdini 3 at chess960

How do you decide the opening positions for the matches, are they randomly chosen out of the 960 possibilities? Robert Yes, 50 positions are randomly selected for each match, using this excellent tool written by Kirill. The engines play each position as black and white, so 100 games. http://kirill-...

Jouni wrote:I was wondering also tablebase access, because there is no Nalimov path in engine parameters like in documentation!
As it says in the documentation, it depends on the GUI. There is a Nailimov path in the parameters in ChessGUI. But not in Shredder GUI.
