Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (11th August 2012)

To correct myself, 90 Elo per doubling at 40/4' is not at odds with what I have seen. Anything from ~1 to 1.4 Elo per 1% increase in speed seems credible to me. I measured ~1.2 Elo for Gaviota. And how much faster is the SSE version ? 7% x 1.2 = about 8 Elo. But I don't believe it personally, from ...

Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (11th August 2012)

It's easy to measure the relative speedup from using SSE for different engines. I don't have exact figures now, and it varied a bit over different versions, but maybe we get 7% or so more than others from it. Based on the CEGT ratings for Komodo 64 bit and 32 bit (six different versions), we averag...

Re: Stockfish.VE_09_Compiled by Velmarin

I am running this at chess960. Looks like it is up to 20 Elo stronger than 2.2.2 under those conditions, and subject to the usual margin of error. http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404FRC/ Confirmed, approx +20 Elo under these conditions, subject to margin of error. Looks like the Stockfish team...

Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (11th August 2012)

1. I believe your cpu is pre-sse4. Since Komodo really suffers on non-sse4 machines (compared to other engines), that probably accounts for the bulk of the 20 elo. Do your other testers have sse4 machines or not? You keep saying this, but where is the proof ? We found no difference with Komodo 4 SS...

Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (11th August 2012)

Also, is it possible to see whether the ratings of the top few single-core engines would be much different if only pairings among them were rated? Thanks, Larry for Komodo You can download just the Komodo games from here: http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404/games.html#by_engine Put them into a...

Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (11th August 2012)

All the 40/4 games were played at 40/3 on Intel hardware, which is obviously faster than the AMD64 4600+ reference hardware

Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (28th July 2012)

No idea, ask the bayeselo author, that is where the numbers come from. Possibly due the the "prior" assumption in bayeselo. All too technical for me.

Re: CCRL 40/4 lists updated (28th July 2012)

The FRC list has not yet been recalculated with the new Bayeselo parameters. So comparing that to the normal 404 and 4040 lists may show some differences currently.
The FRC list has now been updated, so all 3 lists are using the same bayeselo parameters.
