Re: Leela (lack of) endgame technique?

yes, sure, you are right that hardware-developement plays a major role in computerchess and the speed of progress as well ! OTOH: if u state that after around 3-4 months of training a NN gets a playing-strengh that is lets say 200 elo weaker than the top of the crop (a-b-engines (PC) after more than...

Re: Leela (lack of) endgame technique?

LC0 (formerly LCZero), a new approach in computerchess to play the best chess by using a "Neural Network" instead of prunning moves away by "alpha-beta-prunning" (as current engines are based on still momentarely as SF/Houdini/Komodo are), is more or less 1 year among us and performs increadable ca ...

2. what is this "ICCF analysis"-option...what can i do/change with it ??

Re: McBrain v9.9 / McCain v2 Release

@ McCain (MB's future derivative): might it be possible to add a "distance to 50 move rule" as H6 has it implemented ?...this would be a very helpful option imho for analysing. i like the McCain-engine ardy very much and like to say THANK YOU to MikeB and wish him success and fun with his new projek...

Re: maximal depth that stockfish changes its mind

to change "nothing" AND make the problem a "study" (or bettter sayed: a mate-problem) this position seems most adequate to my eyes (makes the move most surprising to my eyes): [D]qrb5/rk1p1K2/p2P4/Pp6/1N2n3/6p1/5nB1/6b1 w - - 0 1 again...Kg7!! (only move), mate 13 respect to the original author, he/...

Re: maximal depth that stockfish changes its mind

but its easy to correct this to a real study:
we put white king to h7 and the only move with mate in 13 is:
[D]qrb5/rk1p3K/p2P4/Pp6/1N2n3/6p1/5nB1/6b1 w - - 0 1
1.Kg7!! (only move) mate 13
