Can this version run on regular pc?

In a cpu lc0 is very slow, to get this speed you need an Nvidia graphics card like my gtx 1060 approx. 300$, better are 1070 or 1080, or the new Rtx 2070 or 2080.

Re: Great improvement in fast games in lc0 0.19rc2 version

I think one of the games you mention is the following, that includes a Queen sacrifice by lc0 in the move 23 while Stockfish didn't evaluate less than -1 until move 39. [Event "lc0181_11261Sf9Initial100_1plus1bbb"] [Site "Ros_4790S"] [Date "2018.11.05"] [Round "98"] [White "stockfish_9_x2"] [Black "...

Great improvement in fast games in lc0 0.19rc2 version

Comparing version 0.19rc2 with 0.18.1 of Lc0. 100 games from initial opening position. Default settings for lc0. No tablebases used. Time control 1 minute plus 1 second, 60+1 Lc0 version 0.18.1 with net 11261 on Asus Geforce GTX 1060 3 Gb against Stockfish 9 with 2 threads on i7 4790S with 4 cores a...

Re: In anticipation of my RTX 2070 GPU :)

In at most a month I will have RTX 2070 GPU working on my desktop PC. I am just waiting to have a more diversified offer, maybe better cooling and maybe better prices. RTX 2070 gives a huge boost, a factor of 4 (!!!) compared to my GTX 1060 6GB. NVidia by allowing fp16 support, just blew out even m...

Re: Opening novelty, positional exchange sacrifice by lc0 and incredible position

Hi! From one of my tests, lc0 played the opening novelty 10..h5 That's not a novelty. It's just transposing to other less seldom played move orders and therefore not in all books to be found at once, but it's even in Brainfish- Cerebellum too. Not to be played actively but to be answered with 11.h3...

Opening novelty, positional exchange sacrifice by lc0 and incredible position

From one of my tests, lc0 played the opening novelty 10..h5 putting the rook in play in an original way and sacrificing it later for a bishop. 19. Bg5 {lc0 0.00/27 16} Rxg5 {Sf9 1.31/14 7.7s} After 74..Rxg6 the next incredible position was reached, where Sf9 is cornered and lost. [Event "Silver16sec...

Re: One piece sacrifice by Leela at move 12. (she gains material back in 50 ply later)

In the match AlphaZero-Stockfish 8, several positions of zugzwang appeared where lc0 paralyzed the rival. The following zugzwang position has appeared in one of my tests. Played at 25 minutes plus 10 secs, same hardware as above messages but 6 logical cores LeR = 3300 * 875/6640000 = 0.43. [Event "L...

Re: One piece sacrifice by Leela at move 12. (she gains material back in 50 ply later)

In the following game against Stockfish 9, sacrifice of pawn followed by sacrifice of queen by lc0 11261, queen by rook and bishop, which has as compensation the devastating entry into action of rooks and pair of bishops. Played at 25 minutes plus 10 secs, same hardware as above message LeR = 3300 *...

Re: One piece sacrifice by Leela at move 12. (she gains material back in 50 ply later)

After seeing the piece sacrifice of lc0 I think its level of play is not far from Alphazero's. And another g4, this time 11.g4 against Stockfish 9 at 5 minutes plus 3 sec. Stockfish 9 with three logical cores of the i7 4790S, which allows calculating about 3.86 million nodes per second against 3300 ...
